Why has no one mentioned that this trade allows us to trade Jason Taylor. In no way am I sayin Akin is as good as Jason Taylor but he does allow the dolphins to trade Taylor. Our starters will be Torber on the left, Porter on the right and Crowder and Akin in the middle. Up until this trade I really felt that we would keep JT but now if we dont we will have a starting LB on the bench which I donts see happining but talk about a differnce. Last year we couldnt field 22 starters and now if JT doesnt get traded we will have starters on the bench!

If anything . . . Akin goes outside . . . Torbor is too small for a 3-4 OLB . . . just my opinion. U would send Crowder outside before Torbor

Well, from what we've gleened about what he's done in Dallas and Jax, he does not have great pass rush ability nor is he particularly strong in coverage. JT can do both well. Akin will be an ILB, may or may not start, but provides value either way. Doesn't really affect JT's situation as I see it.

He was a pretty great pass rushing OLB in college . . . he hasn't had the chance in the NFL that I know of. I still think he goes inside . . . but he is more of a candidate outside than Crowder or Torbor.

Torbor is an outside LB he never played middle so that just doesnt seem logical and Crowder is a middle linebacker he is a vertical player outside guys need to move horizontaly. I would not be happy with changing everyones postions.

I'm not sure what we do about Crowder. I was excited about him as a rookie but I'm curious to see how BP thinks he should be used, if at all. Long term, I mean.

Torbor is an OUTSIDE LINEBACKER why is everyone missing this....He started as OUTSIDE LINEBACKER for the WORLD CHAMPION GIANTS. OUTSIDE LB. i

What? Torbor and AA are the exact same size. Actually Torbor is 10 pounds heavier than Akin.

And Torbor played just fine on the outside when the Giants went on their playoff run to win the super bowl.

I don't know. I think Ayodele is going to play inside. From what I hear, he lacks good pass rushing skills and really struggles to shed blocks.

I think that BP will eventually replace Channing Crowder, he didn't show much in the absence of Zach last year and maybe he is over rated as a MLB.

FYI, on WQAM they just played a soundbite from this past Jan from Akin being interviewed by Mandich. Akin said he considers himself to be a sack guy. Said he was that in college, in JAx and when he first went to DAL.
But who knows where we'll play him?

in a 4-3 . . . him, Akin and Crowder are all to small to play OLB in a 3-4 . . . it wouldn't be Parcells like. These 3 guys will compete for the 2 ILB spots . . . and if we trade JT we will draft a potential replacement today (unless the team is absolutely sold on either Wright or Moses to hold things down . . . even so, I just cant see BP NOT drafting a 3-4 OLB if we trade JT . . . hell he drafts one if he keeps him lol)

This is why i said he may be the best suit for a 3-4 OLB out of him, Torbor and Crowder (tho all 3 will be ILB's on this team). . . he did it in college and was damn good at it also. The size between the 3 are very similar . . . but he probably has the best pass rushing ability between the 3.

There was an interview with Sparano and he was asked how he saw the LB'ers at this point, which was about 3 weeks ago, and he said Taylor, Porter on the outside and Crowder and Torbor on the inside. Obviously this could change but this came directly from the head coach.

I wasn't happy with Crowder as MLB, but as one of two ILB, maybe he could survive. Still not sold on him, but BP knows more about this stuff than I do.
