but i said earlier today we might go after a FB for certain purposes and sure enough, i was right:D i dont know much about him.....whats he like?

ok i'll admit i was wrong. really didn't believe it nor do i still not see a point in it, but you were right. I am curious though. Once again, picking up someone Bill Belicheck cut, just doesn't seem right.

I thought the last position we would pickup would be RB and FB. Then we go and sign 1 of each over the weekend.

Or.. maybe Bill gave Nick a little piece of advice, after all those year's of Nick giving Bill the inside dish on some of his LSU guys.

Just because he cut him, doesnt mean he doesnt like him. We dont know what BB was going to do with Eckel, should he have cleared waivers. He likely would have gone to the PS, based on his play in the preseason. The same can be said for McGill and Jackson (I did some research on some Jets/Panthers boards.. both were likely PS candidates)

ill agree with ya there on the RB, i really didnt expect us to sign one when were trying to get rid of one or two

There are two options (I am hoping for #1):

1) We sign Middlebrooks/another CB and release Minor

2) A trade is in the works- Sammy Morris for CB depth (Although this seems less likely with Lamar going to the Eagles already)

Bill and Nick don't talk. And you DON'T give a division rival hints on a player.

Sorry, I guess I should have added a ;) to imply I was kidding.

My bad.

And FYI, I would bet you anything Bill and Nick DO talk. Maybe not to the extent they once did, maybe not about strategy, but they are in contact.

since i get all the pats games up here in mass. i watched him a few times and he loves to hit and he ran over a few players in the pre-season. so he will be a good hole maker.:D

Totally agree. Saban's moves recently are getting kind of questionable. Chatman's good, dunno about Eckel. But neither fills a desperate hole in the roster (little OL depth, No CBs other than sam/reggie/travis/eddie jackson?).

I thought that at first as well, but Im sure he has a plan and will add a corner (at the very least.. hopefully a WR as well). OL depth? While it is a weak spot, let Houck work with what we have at this point... nobody decent will be released, so may as well just let the guys we have gel. As for RBs not filling a need, I love the Chatman addition (especially now that we cut Lamar), and it looks like Nick and Linehan want to surround the offense with as many blocking skill position guys as possible (i.e. fullbacks and tight ends)... Makes sense for a team with a weak OL.

Eckel is a damn good fullback who was compared to great nfl fullbacks. The problem is he has a Naval commitment which will interfere with his NFL career. However I did read that NE was going to keep him if he was based in Mass. so he could still be a part of the team during his Naval commitment and afterward. Im guessing that NE dropping him and Mia grabbing him might mean he either was based in Florida or Mia is HOPING he will be based in Florida. I will go on to say this guy is a monster if he can find a way to play in the NFL he will be compared to Alstott with better blocking ability. He runs like a madman and blocks like a bulldozer. He (in my oppinion) was not picked up because we need a fullback but because he has wayto much of a upside. Bravo Saban, I for one am all for it.
