They're all pretty much off the market at this point except for Wisniewski... If we don't sign him (and I haven't seen anything linking us to him) guard would be such a glaring hole heading into the draft we would almost be forced to pick Collins at 14... I think Scherff goes top 12. Relying on Dallas Thomas to start CANNOT be an option, and we'd be taking a pretty big risk going anywhere else round 1 and hoping the guard we like will last til our 2nd round pick.

This is why I was concerned about Suh. Only time will tell, but a plan for Knighton/ Dan Williams AND a big guard like Franklin or Iupati would've cost less than Suh alone, and it would've patched 2 big holes. In that case, we probably could've cut Starks and brought back Odrick. We'll see what happens.

More FA options will come after the draft.....we won't make all of our moves in FA before the draft.

teams will make cuts on there rosters and then we will see whats available at that time

Why freak out on day 1 of FA? We will address it with a inexpensive guy and a mid rd pick. Then we'll move on.

Thats how it should be

I'm assuming we're going to pursue a guard and a swing T. We have to. It's too early to stress over it. If we wind up not addressing it then yes I'd feel we wound up making a huge blunder.

I'm not being reactionary or shortsighted... I'm stating my simple opinion that not bringing in a starting vet guard in FA would be a mistake for us. Dallas Thomas sucks and Billy Turner is totally unproven. Supposedly Wisneiwski is in Florida to visit the Bucs. Hopefully he leaves Tampa and comes to sign with us.

If we go into the draft with our current situation unchanged, I will be pretty upset. I highly doubt our FO prioritized our DL over our OL that has been under heavy fire since Philbin's tenure began. We have to have a plan in place. They just cant be that dumb.

What you really want is guard off the table so you can draft 5 wr's. Drafting a guard is smart. Not a tackle moved to G, but a guard who will always be a G.

while i agree, we should bring in a vet at OG, there is still a bit time left. we got Colledge pretty late in the off-season, and for as long as he was healthy, he was ok. i'm looking for a similar signing again.
