Philbin still has low in game coaching IQ. Very stupid challenge, just makes no sense.
Bowman > Will Davis. Davis shouldn't make the roster.
Michael Thomas > Walt Aikens. Thomas is more game ready.
Oline looks like it could handicap this team. What a waste if Tannehill is always under pressure. Fox doesn't make most NFL teams and he's the starter? Yikes.
Matthews has earned a starting WR spot

how people gonna cry about this challenge...rivera has said if philbin wouldn't have called it, he would have done it, so its a non story really

I agree. Coaches aren't going to win every one, first off. Second of all, this is preseason. Who knows what coaches are working on during a game. Really this are glorified practices that the NFL gets to make money off of. From what I saw of this practice I am pleased.

Coaches lose challenges all the time. Philbin lost one, BIG DEAL!!

Haters gonna hate. Theres no fixing them.

I don't see the problem. Don't be too quick to jump on the "Philbin cost us the game" bandwagon in a preseason game. Especially over calling a challenge. Throwing the red flag wasn't a mistake on that one and I thing it was the wrong outcome.

Philbin will have some bonehead calls. But overall he can be fine if the team is talented enough.

1) Our starters look good EXCEPT the offensive line. Why we continue to think you can get by with a sub-par line I don't understand.
2) Expect a lot of short passes and slants. With the o-line T-hill won't have much time to throw deep. Run game could be okay, but again, the line will limit Miller's effectiveness.
3) Hope for no major injuries. Depth is a HUGE issue on this team. Except for DT and WR we aren't deep at all. Judging from the first two preseason games we have some of the worst backups in the NFL. I hope they cut a lot of guys and poach some from other team's cuts.

To blame Philbin for the challenge is just plain silly. They have guys in the booth that tell coaches whether they should challenge or not, or at least if it's worth a shot. Do u really think the coaches base these decisions solely or mostly by what they see on the jumbotron? Not only that but I thought it was a good challenge anyway, and the call was bs.

I wouldn't get too worked up over the challenge. Joe takes the blame but it shows that he needs to be getting decent advice re making the call to throw the red flag. Who is advising him in making these calls?

And I don't know why the OP called Fox a starter for us.... he does realize Brandon Albert is our starting LT

Nobody should blame Philbin for that, after seeing play in slo mo Williams clearly had the ball in his hand when it hit the pileon

I was at the game. Challenge could have gone either way. Our starters dominated theirs with some of ours sitting out. Again Dallas Thomas is a joke. I feel a healthy Albert and signing Mathis makes us a legit contender. Kicker is another area of concern.

Actually respected Joe's response to the "mistake." He owned up to it and said he would learn from it. That's more than most of us can say.

Gettinga backup qb, and a K and punter would go a long way. Carolina dominated in the kicking game and ol. I was ot happy with our pass rush in the first qtr.

The bottom line on the challenge is that Williams fumbled the ball. Philbin should have let Rivera chance his TO to see which way it would be called. He was too quick to pull the flag. That is my only beef with him.
That TD would have likely iced the game for us, but alas Williams fumbled. Good thing it was preseason.
