Noticed this as well with the fans.

The only game I was ever at was against Seattle many years ago now (8 or 9). We were holding onto a lead late in the fourth against the favoured Seahawks. They had the ball and I knew I had to do my part. Barely any fans around me looked like Seahawk supporters and I knew I could help lead a section to be loud. I yelled things , screamed things and just bellowed out sound and most everyone else looked at me like I was some nut job while they sipped their drinks. We were close to the field and where the ball was and barely anyone was making a sound. As much as I crave going to another game, I would rather see one where the fans were loud and proud!

next time I go, I will try to Rev up my section if needed again for sure.

I was at the Monday night opener in 2009 against Indy with seats right behind the Phins bench. I was actually approached by an usher and asked to sit down when cheering because the fans 5 rows behind me complained they couldn’t see. I have never seen home fans who just want to sit and watch the game and not cheer.

I’m just happy when the stadium does not appear half empty.

The people that complained behind you need to be at a wine tasting event, not a pro sports game.

Miami is not a football town in my opinion. You go to greenbay, Pittsburg or philly and talk to people and they are probably discussing the dude they signed to the practice squad. You walk around Miami and ask them to name 2 or 3 players on the active roster and you might be lucky to get a few people who know.

Especially in a down year like this for Miami

Exactly. I think if we became a good team for a stretch you will get some band wagon locals but just doesn’t seem like we have a hardcore fan base actually living in Miami.

It's because there's more opponents' fans at the games than Dolphins' fans.
Exactly. I have attended games over the years in which the opposing team had 15 to 20 thousand fans in the stadium and they can get very loud when the Dolphins have the ball.

Miami is a great place to visit and a lot of fans of the opposing teams fly down to hit the beach, the nightclubs, and attend the game. There are also thousands of fans of other teams which have moved to South Florida and the one game they will go to is the game in which their team is playing the Dolphins.

Tickets to Dolphin games are always available and since most Dolphin fans in South Florida watch the game on TV and don’t attend games. It is always easy for fans of the opponent to get tickets and root for their team inside the stadium.

I think it actually is both. The games I’ve been to I noticed the same thing from the home crowd. Probably like that at most places tho, drunk fans aren’t known for their intelligence and discipline typically.

What people don't understand is that low canopies like we have tend to really amplify sound. Our roof situation is also different than a dome or stadia like Lucas Oil in Indy where the ceiling is extremely high. Venues like Arrowhead and Qwest/Lumen/SeahawkStadium that are tremendously loud have crowd noise levels turned way down in the mix for Television. When you watch them play, the dynamic range of the crowd noise is always more compressed than smaller-turnout teams.

Miami is special because it's not very loud at baseline so when the crowd suddenly goes nuts it becomes very amplified in the mix. Since half the crowd is for the away team, the way the stadium is mic'd always makes it sound like you have a whole stadium full of shouting people.
