Notre Dame's loss to Southern California didn't hurt the Fighting Irish in The Associated Press Top 25. Nor did the Trojans take a hit from voters for needing a dramatic comeback to win their 28th straight game.

The Irish lost some points but remained No. 9 in The Associated Press Top 25 on Sunday, a day after losing 34-31 to USC in a game that will go down as one of the best in the history of the storied rivalry.

The Trojans needed Matt Leinart's 1-yard TD sneak with 3 second left to finally subdue the kelly green-clad Irish in South Bend, Ind. But USC wasn't punished for the close victory. The Trojans received 57 first-place votes in the media poll, one fewer than last week. USC has been No. 1 for a record 26 straight polls.

They barely lost to the #1 team in america. I don't blame them.

Personally I think they should have moved up. There are quite a few teams in front of them they could easily beat.

They shouldnt move up after a loss. And after that game, they shouldnt fall. The polls got it right in keeping them at #9.

they barely loss?? a loss is a loss ! they should have fell out of top ten, they have two losses already .

when u loss to the number won team by a few points you deserve to be in the top ten

By that logic Stanford was a top 10 team last year. I agree that ND deserves to be where they are at, but keeping the score close to USC doesn't automatically make you a top 10 team.
