Despite the apparent best efforts of Michigan athletic director Bill Martin, Michigan and Notre Dame may not play for two years. The same deal will follow for Michigan State. The current U-M/Notre Dame contract expires in 2011 and, according to Notre Dame athletic director Kevin White, the teams will take at least two years off. A story in the (Ala.) Press-Register today said, "White said the Fighting Irish will take a short break from their Big 10 rivals in the future, replacing Michigan with Oklahoma for a two-year period, then facing Arizona State instead of Michigan State for two years.

I look forward to the ND/OU games but I dont like not playing Michigan. I dont mind dropping MSU for ASU really at all, though I enjoy beating MSU a lot.

Wow I don't like that at all. Thats horrible that ND won't play Michigan! Who cares about MSU

hmmm, is this anything like when the hiding irish decided the U was to tough for them....

 The worst part about this is that Michigan is begging to keep the games going on and ND will have no part of it

It is just me, or does ND decide not to play Michigan after they whooped up on ND pretty bad?

ND has beat Michigan 2 out of the last 3 years and 3 out of the last 5 I believe...

And lets be honest, it isnt like they are replacing Michigan with a bad team.

Has nothing to do w/ Michigan it has to do w/ taking a break from the Big 10 and playing different teams. The ND/Michigan rivalry has had breaks before for things like this.

That's okay, but I hate seeing a good rivalry broken up. I liked watching ND/Mich.
If they were going to break that up, I would have liked it much more to see ND add Miami back in (I don't know if Miami was available or not).

That's why I'm not really thrilled w/ the move. OU games will be cool imo, something new against a good team w/ a lot of tradition, but it wont be the same.

A little more info on this

Martin said earlier this summer that the hangup in the contract renegotiations was U-M's intent to get the Notre Dame home game in the opposite year of Ohio State, unlike the previous setup.

But that would conflict with Notre Dame's intent to do something similar with USC.

Apparently, taking a break from the series may be the immediate remedy.

Well I don't know much about ND and there schedlue making, But I trust you. When will ND start playing OK? I would have loved to see ND play someone else rather than another Pac 10 team (ASU) like Miami or even anyone from the SEC like I have stated before.
