I believe it was the 2002 preseason opener against the Bucs. I remember it was on a Thursday night and ESPN was broadcasting it. I barely got my nachos and Labbatt's Blue when I see the Bucs' kick returner catch the ball in the Bucs' own endzone and then takes off and reads his blocks beautifully and blazes down the field for a 101 yard kickoff return for a TD. That was Frank Murphy. At the time I was like, "WTF??? I haven't even gone through my pregame rituals yet!!"
Although we have a logjam at WR, Murphy just might make it as our kick returner. He sure seemed to read his blocks well and he has the speed that Welker lacks. Plus, he's been impressive in camp. He just might be a possible dark horse candidate to make it.
