As we all know, JT99 has been elected to the Pro Football Hall of Fame this year in 2017. I'm a Phin fan that is absolutely elated about it, and I'm already making plans to go to Canton this year to see his induction.

Now that its official ... time for a serious question:
Of all that JT has done for this franchise ... 2006 DPOY ... 2007 WPMOTW ... 2000s All Decade Team ... and all the numerous stats he built up and records he holds, a good argument can be made that he just may be the best Defensive Player the Phins have ever had, and his inclusion into the HOF certainly holds that water.

With all that ... DO THE PHINS NOW OFFICIALLY RETIRE HIS #99 JERSEY?

Honestly, I say yes ... Do it. I know he played for the Jets, but you know what, Favre played for the Vikings to and that didn't stop Green Bay from doing it. And the fact JT came back, not once ... but TWICE ... to play for us and retire a Phin tells me the respect and love he had (has) for this franchise all along and didn't want to leave to begin with. I say, we should make him our first defensive player to have his jersey retired. I think its the right thing to do now, I really do.

What say all of you?

If we had been to any superbowls or hell even a deep run into the playoffs, then I'd say yes.

Yes....and they will. I would bet there is a ceremony at a home game this upcoming season...ring of honor and retire his number. It will happen.

A definite yes. I think he was the best defensive player in Miami's history and obviously did a lot off the field as well that we can all be proud of.

That, in my opinion, no one in the last 20 years has done anything to warrant retiring a number.

So snub JT because his teammates many of teammates were not good enough? Or are you suggesting it was JT's play that lead to a lack of rings?

I fail to see why team records should impact a question like this. JT should be judged on his play, not Pat Whites

I don't think he's done enough to warrant it.

So you don't think being a first ballot hall of famer and retiring as a teams greatest defensive player is enough?

That would be enough if he was the best Dolphins defensive player of all time. But he is not so it's a moot point. All of the younger fans need to go watch the 70's and early 80's teams.

I agree, the Dolphins defensive pedigree is far and wide in its history. Taylor excelled in an era when this team didn't have many excelling. He stands out among the younger fans because of this. My belief, for all sports teams, is that jersey retirements should be saved for legends, Taylor doesn't fit that criteria. Ring of honor 100%.

NO!! I mean nice player but number retired? Um, NO. That is for only the great of the greats which JT is not.

JT is a HOF player, nice player, not number retired worthy
