once again Nowitzki chokes on center stage in a big game. Last night i was watching a long debate on espn about who the league MVP was this year: Nash or Nowitzki. It is clear that Nash should win the MVP again because Nowitzki just showed again tonight how he cannot come up big to win the game. 3 times he had a chance to put it away and failed. at the end of the 4th quarter with 10 seconds left he missed a free throw that wouldve put dallas up by 4 points. thus securing the victory. instead he misses 1 and with 10 seconds the suns have the ball down by 3. Guess who hits the game tying 3-point shot with 2.7 seconds left? thats right steve nash. then with 2.7 seconds left, Nowitzki misses a 20 footer for the win. then in overtime, Nowitzki gets called for a TECHNICAL for complaining on a non-call costing his team a crutial point in overtime. THEN later on steve nash makes a big play by deflecting an inbound pass that was intended for terry, instead nash knocks it out of bounds OFF of terry. which lead to a go ahead basket for phoenix which proved to be the game winner because afterwards Nowitzki had yet ANOTHER chance to salvage the game by tying it with another jump shot and missed again.

sorry for the play by play, im sure alot of people watched the game. but i just wanted to say that it shouldnt be a debate. nash should win MVP again this year. Nowitzki is a choker. that is all.

havent the mavs beaten the suns twice before tonights game?
Yes. And the most recent loss to the mavericks featured Dirk drilling a last second jumper to win in.

Although, as a suns fan, i hate that it takes double OT just for us to beat the mavs. And I'm starting to worry about Diaw and his horrible defense and errant shooting of late.

Nowitzki did hit 3 game winners in a row prior to this game, including one the last time the Mavs played the Suns.

If the MVP was defined as the most valuable player to his team then Arenas would win it going away....no team plays worse without their star than the Wiz. But in most people's minds the award is tied closely to the team's success, and the best player on the best team in the NBA is Nowitzki.

Yeah, let's base the MVP race based on one meaningless, albeit entertaining game. The award is based on the season, and he is the best player on the best team. Against Phoenix earlier in the season, he hit the game winner.

He also had 30 and 16 last night, not too shabby. He will get the MVP and rightfully so.

If anything I'd give them co-MVPs. Dirk had chances to put the game away and failed. I'm sure Nash has failed a few times as well.

Great game BTW. I was rooting for Phoenix

Meaningless game? Phoenix is now within 2.5 games of "the best team". Dirk is the best player on the Mavs, but they arent the best team in the league. The best team is the one who wins the title

I think the award was all but Nowitzki's before the game last night. After Nash hit that 3 to send it into OT,that may have been a decider.Hopefully Nash doesnt win it again tho.The argument that if he isnt in the game for Phoenix they are a different team is weak. You take any star player off of any team and they are different.

Yes, it will prove meaningless. Phoenix isn't going to catch Dallas, and that game will be all but forgotten when the playoffs begin. The MVP race is a marathon, and this one game shouldn't decide the outcome. Dirk was the leader for MVP going in, and one game isn't going to change that.

Just ask Nash himself who the MVP should be.

Dallas has no other way of playing if they don't have Dirk.

their whole offense runs through him. THE WHOLE OFFENSE. They have the best record.

Clear cut MVP Choice IMO. Although Nash has had a great season.
