The last time your Miami Dolphins were 5-3 half way through a season was count them 11 years ago.

November 2nd 2003 Miami lost to the Colts to push them to 5-3 on the year. They then went on to matched their first half record at 5-3 to get them to 10-6 on the year but it wasn't good enough to get them into the playoff that year.

Wannstedt was coach.
Run Ricky Run wasn't retired to smoke pot yet and was rushing for 1372yds and 9 TDs
Jay Fiedler and Brain Griese were putting up an impressive 57% completion percentage, 16 TDs and 19 INTs for a combine 70.8 rating.
Travis (the beast) Minor was Ricky's backup mustering 193yds and 1 TD.
Chris Chambers was giving us hope by hauling in 64 receptions for 963yds and 11 TDs.
The sack masters Ogunleye and Taylor were reeling off a combine 28 sacks between them.
Zach Thomas was doing nothing but what he did leading the team in tackles with a combine 152 on the year.
The dynamic duo, Surtain and Madison where picking off passes to the tune of 10 combine.

That's your 2003 fun facts for the day and the last time Miami sat at 5-3 after half a year of play.

Saw that 5-3 stat yesterday. Can't believe it's been 11 years since we've been relevant at the half-way point of a season. Starting a tough 4 game stretch with a 37 point rout is a great way to start the next half of the season...**** yea!...that's all I have to say about that.

lets just hope it does not end the same way as that season.

although we did finish 10-6, which is usually good enough to get into the playoffs, i remember we lost at home to the eagles on mnf and then went into foxboro and got shutout by the pats like 12-0 or something like that.

10-6 this year, depending on which games we win to get to 10-6, also may not be good enough to get into the playoffs. it should be though, but must win our key games, buf, balt, just to name a few absolute must wins

Tannehenne sucks and is holding the team back.
