With all the F bombs, negative comments, and failing grades that have been thrown at the O-line during the first 1/4 of the season (and deservingly so), Maybe time to give props to the increasing improvement they've made over the last two weeks...Especially this last week.....Pass Protection seemed alot better, allowing I think, Harrington to throw 266yrds (correct me if I'm wrong), and the run blocking must have improved, in order for Ronnie to reach 127yrds (again on the number)....I dont know about individual play of the line, but did the switches from the right to the left side affect their play that much??? Still a long way to go I'm sure of that...

I think it took us 6 weeks to find the right mix. I hated when we brought in LJ Shelton to be our LOT and he proved me right being an absolute bust as a LOT. But props to the coaching staff for putting him in at ROG. Its only one game and against the lowly Jets but we got some nice push in the running game with him being a part of it. He may alright as a OG. I think we rose from being a bad line to an average one as a whole. DMAC is adequate for the remainder of the year and it looks like we'll get decent push up the middle in the running game. We should be banned from running outside since our lineman arent capable but between the tackles we're fine running. Passing wise we're fine so long as we stay with the short passing game. Harrington gets back there and makes his decisons quickly so its going to be tough for defenses to get sacks unless our playbook changes and we start looking downfield more. Overall we went from F to a C pending us playing some good defensive fronts. First one up will be Chicago in a few weeks

yeah the online is playing alot better.... now all we need is for them to pass block when cpep is in and i think we'll be ok

Unfortunately, we blew it by siging Shelton and giving him the LT position. He has never played better than DMac did last year (he was ok). Now, after 1-5, we decided to put DMac back at LT? I'm glad they are making changes and getting better, but the money spent on Shelton could have landed an excellent guard.

keep dreaming, as soon as he learns to read defenses and make the correct reads and get rid of the ball instead of looking completey confused and lost on the field, then his sacks and fumbles will come down, but unfortunately thats never going to happen because he can't do it.

LJ Shelton costs us a 3.5 million dollar signing bonus. That is peanuts for a LT.

Quit saying we blew it. It was a good value move.

The line did block a lot better but alot of it was because we ran the ball. It takes the pressure off of the QB and the online is not blocking on 3rd and long. I still dont think the line is great we could not pick up 4th and inches or 3rd and 2 yards on one of the nfl's worsed rush defenses.

I honestly am not seeing any improvement in the line. I'm seeing a QB getting rid of the ball ASAP as a band-aid solution to a line that cannot perform the job it needs to. Run blocking is still horrible, pass blocking is slightly above disgraceful. I hope the position shuffling finally works, but I really wish we had McKinney, Berger, and Toledo.

How did we not blow it?
1. Shelton has not played better than DMac did last year.
2. the $$ we spent are now effectively for a RG, not a LT

There was a prior article saying how the money spent on Shelton would have landed us a stud guard. Sounds like a bad value to me.

I think paying 3.5 million signing bonus for a guy that is capable of playing LT in the league is not blowing it. It is good value.

Shelton did not play that bad as LT. He is not a great LT, but he did not get great LT money. A 3.5 million SB for a Guard is not bad ( See Steve Hutchinson ).

A 3.5 million signing bonus is poop these days. At worst we got a functional NFL lineman who can play left or right tackle in a pinch.

Why is everyone so outraged about this?
