I've been thinking lately what I would want the Fins to do with their first two picks.....so many options.....but at the end I think Levi Brown would be their at 9 and If he has a good combine I think he would be a very very good pick....not the sexy pick we may all want but probably the one that would best help this team....and then I was thinking how nice would it be if we went O line in round 2 also??? Get ourselves a good G or C....Would this solve our O line issues??? We've negelected our line for too long and its time we build that up to be the fiercest line in the AFC...I would love it if we picked up 2 studs in the oline...thoughts??

If we pick up Dielman in FA, and draft Brown and Kalil, we're pretty much set at OL for a while. You sure won't find me crying, though I'm sure there's someone out there who thinks that taking a WR at 9 would be a better move (Calvin Johnson notwithstanding).

EDIT

******

See post below mine.

I think we go WR 1st round then OL 2nd round. we need an inpact player for this
team . Someone who comes in an plays from day one!

I am of the school of thinking that this franchise has long overlooked the o-line as a priority. If there is a tackle of value at pick #9, I think that's where we need to go.

O line will be there in the second and third rounds, Also Free agency so I would pick Ted Ginn with the 1st then The central michigan center, and in the third a DE

my opinion on our O-line is we've got two very good linemen (Carey and Hadnot), but one (Hadnot) is playing out of position. That leaves us with 3 open spots. I'd like to see us draft either a guard or C in round 2 (depending on who else is available) even if we draft Levi Brown. If we don't draft Brown, or Ugoh/Staley in round 2, I say give Alabi is shot at starting.

o-line with houck doesnt need to be talent filled.

i say keep d-mac, carey, shelton, hadnot and jeno and draft in rounds 3-7 quality o-lineman for next year. this core of lineman has the potential and could really use another year for cohesion.

i love the idea of picking up a fa or two, but we need to build the o-line through the draft like we did with carey.

Carey, our first rounder? I'm not quite sure I follow your plan of drafting quality linemen in 3-7 given that.

my logic in drafting o-line later in the draft this year is that our line is good enough for next year. we have more serious needs in the first 2 rounds than o-line and to pick o-line at #9 with the stud from Wisconsin off of the board makes no sense to me.

if we had a later round 1st choice like we usually do then id be all for o-line at the spot, but im hoping we trade up and get russell the qb from LSU. :ricky:

At the end of the season we had one of the best right sides in football.

Couldn't agree more with drafting quality OL in this year's draft. Our OL has been terrible for quite some time and it needs to be addressed now. Brown may not be a sexy pick and he is a reach at 9 but we him more than we need a Ted Ginn or Brady Quinn. Only way I want us to draft a WR or QB is if by some miracle Calvin Johnson or Russell drops to us at 9.

Houck can only do so much with the raw talent he's given. If you want first/second round talent, your most likely place to aquire that talent is in the first and second rounds. It could be said that every position is in need of depth/improvement, but to continuously ignore the OL as we have will just end up with the same results we've been getting. We've had to tinker, fudge, swap, rotate, and otherwise do everything possible to battle injuries and inconsistencies on our line, and our game has suffered for it. With Anderson gone, and Alabi and Toledo still not good enough to serve save in dire emergencies, the OL is definitely a safe and productive place to start improving this team.

If we go out and spend most of the little cap room we have on a G before we have even had a chance to evaluate Joe Toledo then maybe we deserve another losing season. We have 8 gaurds returning to our roster this spring. What about Jeno James,Toniu Fonoti,Bennie Anderson,Seth Mckinney,Kendall Jacox,Joe Toledo,Rex Hadnot,LJ Shelton,Stephens and another guy on the practice squad??

Only CJ is a worth a top 10 pick, so unless he drops your thoughts are incorrect.
