Does anyone else realize that after 1 March we will have exactly 5 OL on our roster? Our o-line will consist of Carey, Darilek, Satele, Mormino, and Wilson! That's it, no-one else is there!

Now, I don't know about anyone else, but that worries the crap out of me!! We don't even have a Starting line on our roster! Personally, I think we need to really concentrate on getting about 10 more OL into camp this year and try to form a decent core of a minimum of 8/9 players to get the job done.

My recommendation would be to get at least 2 good OL in the draft, 3/4 in FA, and then try to dig up at least 2/3 UDFA's. Remember we found Wilson as a UDFA last year, so it can be done. I believe that Ireland's Scouting team will be of monstrous help in this area for us! I also believe that we'll be able to snag at least a couple of young, good players from other teams Practice Squads that are just now beginning to show NFL promise. That's where our pro scouts earn their money for us right now, identifying those young up-and-comers for us to target.

If anyone else can come up with a few recommendations for young, solid players, toss a few names with info into the discussion. Please try to keep their ages under 26, we want to be able to build a team for the long haul, not be a Retirement Center for players on the down-side of their career.

Here is a list of who we have released or will be FA's after 1 March:
Shelton,LJ-cut; Alabi,A-cut; Toledo,J-cut; Dukes,M-cut; Hadnot,R-FA; Lekkerkerker,C-FA; Liwienski,C-FA; Mruczkowski,G-FA; Ndukwe,I-FA; Rosenthal,M-FA. Also released was Love,M who we picked up as a DT, but HH was working with him as a project, trying to convert him to OG. Now, including Love, that makes it 11 OL gone! Boys and girls, we gotta get some big uglies in here, ASAP!!

I agree I think we will draft some players and free agency. we will get some big uglies in here. promise.

Internet reports state that Rex is loking in the 4-5 million a year range. While a good player and quite tough that is not what we are looking for when we have his replacements in camp. Consensus states he ends up with Houck in Dallas.

Why are you worried about how many OL we have on the roster in February/March? If we still have less than 9/10 in late May/early June, then you should be worried.

SgtPhin I think you may be looking at the glass half empty, we know that Bill will have 10/11 on the roster. That means that ParLand is definely going to do good things for our o-line. Which I must say is looonnnnnnnnngggg over due, don't you think?

I agree with your assessment of Parland's abilities and plans.

What I was getting at was that everyone and their brother seems to want to sign every WR/TE/QB who comes up as being released and just a couple of people have mentioned our needs on the OL. I really am not worried about the need of getting these guys in here in Feb/Mar, just that we need to put as much emphasis on our OL acquisitions as we are on the so-called "skill positions".

Wouldn't you agree?

Yes, it's funny to me that every time someone is cut (WR, QB, OLB, DB, and S) we are asked if Miami wants them. As ParLand have said themselves "You build from the inside out", which is so true. The other thing that is telling is that, so far at least, the defense hasn't really been touched other than Zach. Do they see something in those young players we already have? I guess time will tell. My hope is that most of our dealings are on the offensive side of the ball.

When did we become so certain that Rex isnt going to be resigned?

Rex played poorly this year. He missed a lot of blocks, and DTs were shooting the gap with ridiculous ease. He falls into average at best, and he thinks he is a legit starter. He will ask too much money, so I cannot imagine that BP and Ireland will not let him walk.

I agree 100%. You get to the playoffs by having a solid offensive linemen and solid defensive front 7. You win in the playoffs with a good to great defense, a solid offensive line, and good skill players. You win the superbowl with a great defense, a very good offensive line, good skill players, and a top 6 QB. That is why the Giants won. Our offensive line is lacking and our defensive front 7 has weaknesses. We need to focus there!!!

Who is Darilek? Is he someone Ireland and co signed? And isn't tala Esera still on the roster?

I'm pretty sure that practice roster players are automatically FAs once the season is over.
