I had to watch the game on CBS Sportsline (nothing better than staring at tiny helmets move up and down a 4 inch football field!) so I obviously could not see the live action.

I'm curious how the O-line, specifically Long, handled the pass rush. I know Henne held the ball too long from everything I've read but I can't find a single piece on the O-line.

There were a few times Henne hung on to the ball too long. There were also times when the pocket seemed to collapse quickly. There was one play when Carey got blown up and Henne couldn't blink before he got drilled.

I'm not one of those guys thats great at breaking down film and figuring out who was at fault. But it looked 50/50 to me. The oline could have done a better job, and Henne probably held onto the ball too long a few times. Overall though...I thought the pass blocking held up pretty well.

I may be wrong but I don't think Long gave up any sacks though. Carey however, early in the game, darn near got him killed. I was a bit disappointed in Thomas as well though.

Long will get credited with giving up one sack, but it was on Henne. Long held his block more than enough time and Henne held on to the ball too long, then actually steppedinto where Long was blocking his guy. I know the stats will show Long gave it up, but it was on Henne. And those will happen until he gets settled in there.

I think 2 of the sacks could be laid on Henne holding the ball too long/poor movement in the pocket.
2 were clearly the O-line's fault. Carey whiffed on one play and Henne got drilled. There was also a middle blitz that no one picked up and Henne got drilled again. Those 2 plays were really disappointing to see.
The other 2 were a combination.
Still, 6 sacks given up is way too much and clearly the lowlight on this game.

Thomas is still playing raw. He and Carey missed a few assignments. Only like 2 sacks were from look-out blocks. (Henne, look out!) The rest of the sacks were unrecognized blitzes. I don't know who you blame for those. But, overall, without counting the sacks, the O-line did a good job.

That's right, I forgot that one. Henne stepped up, and into the sack.

Thanks to all who responded and I hope to catch the game on NFL replay this week.

Good to hear Long did well but Carey is starting to scare me a bit. I thought he would be dominant on the right side but he seems to be good for one matador impression every game!

There was one play where Fasano helped out on the double team and I beleive it was the safety that came in unblocked....

There was another play where Denney simply jumped over one of our blockers and made the sack.

they were awful, gotta give a young QB but really any QB needs more time then that, 6 sacks in one game is awful and we are tied for 2nd most sacks given up this season. henne already has been sacked more then pennington was in his couple of games. protection has to hold up. as good as the line is run blocking is about as bad as they have been pass blocking

:lol2:

I know you weren't being literal but I just thought that was funny.

The OL scares me... Henne is a statue and does not have a particularly quick delivery... if they don't clean it up he is gonna get knocked into next week...

The Jets are gonna test that OL BIG TIME! They better be ready... 6 sacks is 4 too many.
