091612 (Bill Ingram/Palm Beach Post): Miami Gardens: Miami Dolphins running back Reggi Bush runs through the Oakland Raiders defense on his way to a long run during first half action at Sun Life stadium Sunday in Miami Gardens.Bush scored two touchdowns in the victory over the Raiders 35-13.
Oakland Raiders defensive tackle Tommy Kelly scowled and shook his head, unable to hide his displeasure over losing to the Dolphins.
“It’s just embarrassing. It’s just very embarrassing. That team is — oh my God,” Kelly said Sunday, changing directions before expressing himself further.
Whatever Kelly’s opinion of Miami, he left Sun Life Stadium a loser for the second year in a row, and his team has dropped four consecutive games overall against the Dolphins. The Raiders are 0-2 to start the season and searching for answers after a 35-13 loss in the Dolphins’ home opener.
The Raiders, who traveled more than 3,000 miles after losing to the San Diego Chargers on Monday night, made no excuses for their short week or the South Florida heat and humidity.
Those issues were nothing compared to Reggie Bush, who torched Oakland once again. Bush rushed for 172 yards and two touchdowns on a career-high 26 carries and added three catches for 25 yards. With less than three minutes remaining, he left to standing ovation and thunderous chants of “Reg-gie! Reg-gie!”
Oakland left a big hole for Bush on the game’s first play, an 11-yard gain up the middle, but held him to 34 yards on 11 first-half carries. Only three of those went for longer than 3 yards. The Raiders began the second half with a 10-7 lead, but without something else.
“We left our tackling in the locker room,” Kelly said.
And Bush broke their backs. With eight minutes left in the third quarter, he took a handoff in the I-formation, danced outside and busted through four defenders for a 23-yard touchdown. Two plays after Oakland punted, Bush ran around the left end and sped untouched up the sideline for a 65-yard touchdown.
