... what team was David Garrard on that was loaded with Pro Bowl talent? He had a pro bowl RB but that's it. He had absolutely terrible WRs and TEs to throw to. Give me a break.
Where are you getting your information from? Matt Moore had the same full camp with the Dallas Cowboys in 2007 as most UDFA. Moore was with the Cowboy until final cuts in September of that year. Moore also had full camps with Carolina in 2008 (broke his leg in final preseason game), 2009 and 2010 (when he was named opening day starter).gerrard ceiling has been topped years ago and theres no upside for him. he is a journeyman and thats all. he has 8 years in the nfl with many years starting and full camps. moore has played around 26 games. had NO full camp anywhere untill this year so at least he has upside and MUCH room for growth. to bad he once again wont get his full chance here either. guy need a rabbits foot in the worst way.
Seriously? Rashean Mathis (2006) Fred Taylor (2007), Maurice Jones-Drew (2009 & 2010), Mercedes Lewis 2010).moore or not, it will be a sad day and a set back should gerrard be the starter on opening day or through the season as he has been on teams LOADED with pro bowl talent on both sides of the ball and did nothing of importance. doubt he takes a young squad with little talent [at present] and a new offensive scheme anywhere.
maybe being straddled with the SECOND TEAM offense agaisnt the FIRST TEAM defense played a part?
every one is so set in stone about who is this and who is that. no one takes in account of who was working on what plays, what teams they were playing with and against, etc...... the coaches are trying different things with different players all camp.
it appears the staff wanted to see how the second team offense would look agaisnt the #1 defense and moore was the guy chosen to run it.
the last practice gerrard was down and moore looked good. not a lot of fan fare for that though.
look, we all know that tannehill was drafted high and he IS the future. he is not going to be behind moore or gerrard for long and moores developement is going to be squarely on his shoulders as tannehill is the one who is getting "developed".

i know there is a LOT of gerrard over moore sentiment here, but, as the old saying goes, BE CAREFUL of what you wish for!!!
I couldn't agree with you more on this.BTW I was a big Matt Moore supporter last year, but truth is I want nothing more than to see my #Dolphins at the top once again. If that is without Matt Moore than so be it. Whoever helps the #Dolphins win on Sundays & helps them get back in the playoffs is who should be the QB. The name, age, skin color or where they came from should not matter to Dolfans. Wins is all that we should care about. May the best QB win.
The same problems that haunted Moore last season are haunting him this year in camp & I was there last year in camp & many felt at the time Moore would challenge Henne, in preseason it showed. Don't buy the Moore is not a good practice QB stuff. Plus its a new regime they could care less if he is good practice QB or not, needs to impress them every chance he gets.
This is also not the first time Moore has looked like bad in camp, it dates back to OTAs & all through mini camp Garrard has been the better QB, he consistently shows why he should start for the Dolphins. Garrard moves the chains, does not make costly mistake & most importantly has shown in camp he is a good redzone QB who does not turn the ball over.
Dolfans should be doing cartwheels cause I truly believe the fact Moore has looked average at best is a clear sign Miami has upgraded at QB. #Dolphins have a very solid veteran in Garrard who can win & has showed it throught out his career. The drafted a promising rookie at QB who like Garrard has been outplaying Moore the last couple of the days at camp Thanks to hose two additions we are now seeing what Matt Moore truly is a quality backup at best in the NFL. For these new #Dolphins Moore is probably the 3rd best QB on the team.

Jacksonville has had a receiving corps in the bottom 3 in the league for years now, so anyone who thinks Garrard was benefiting from that is kidding themselves.
I think Tannehill is an elite qb when he is on the move. He has work to do in other phases of the game, but man do I like how he performs on the move. In that sense, he reminds me of Aaron Rodgers.Tannehill rolls out & completes a pass to Clay.
Tannehill is running a no huddle & is calling audibles at the line, completes a screen pass to Bess for good yardage. No huddle finds Bess in the slot & completes another pass for a 1st down.
Tannehill rolls out to the right, looks down field & finds Fasano open for TD. Crowd Goes Wild!!!
I like this.....
Dolphins began doing the scrimmage by the whole team stretching, only two players on the sidelines where Jonas Gray & Brian Hartline. Hartline seems very bothered by his injury. He is wearing a compression sleeve on his left leg & can't even stretch with the team.
Dolphins proceeded to individual drills. The only thing that stood out here was BJ Cunningham dropping another pass with absolutely no one covering him.
7on7 Drills:
Moore gets the first crack. Moore intends a pass to Ochocinco which got tipped & almost intercepted.
Garrard took the next turn, he complete passes to Moore & Egnew. Garrard overthrows Pruitt who had his defender beat & looks real fast.
Tannehill's turn, throws nice a pass to Moore who drops it, comes back with a nice sideline pass to Naanee
1st team Oline: Long, Incognito, Pouncey, Hicks, Martin
2nd team Oline: Murtha, Steinbach, Samuda, Jerry, McDonald
11on11 Drills:
Garrard in with the starting Offense in 11 on 11 drills, he rolls out & completes a pass to Bess.
HB Draw, Bush gains 5 yards
Martin allows pressure & Garrard's pass is batted at the line, very next play a false start
Garrard finds Naanee down the middle passes & Naanee wrestles the ball away from Nolan Carroll (PLAY OF THE DAY)
Thomas with a nice gain for a 1st, running hard
Thomas running hard & moving the pile another nice gain
Steve Slaton in with 1st unit
Chad drops a TD pass by Garrard on 3rd & GOAL, Carpenter hits the FG.
Miller with a nice kick return
Moore in with second team Offense going up against 1st team D, hands off to Miller for a short gain
Moore lobs a pass to the sidelines incomplete, 2nd down throws a bad pass to Clay incomplete. That it for Moore & the second unit
Marcus Thigpen seeing time at PR
Moore is back out with the second unit, Moore batted at the line. Next pass to Egnew who got lit up but manages to stay up & fights for extra yards after getting hit big time. Dansby on the hit.
Moore sacked
Moore comes out for his 3rd series with the second unit, 1st pass incomplete, 2nd pass screen pass to Thigpen, throws it away. 3 & out
Tannehill rolls out & completes a pass to Clay.
Goal Line:
Moore in with the second team Offense against the first team Defense, 3 & out.
Garrard completes a sideline pass to Ocho, rolls out to the left complete to Naanee, Culver bats a pass intended for Naanee in the endzone, Carpenter connects with a FG.
Tannehill looks down field throws to Fuller who draws double coverage incomplete almost intercepted, Next play he completes a screen pass, Next play sacked. Carpenter misses the FG attempt.
Moore who has seen a ton of reps today is finally in with the 1s. After two handoffs, Matt Moore completes a TD pass to Fasano. Fasano looking the best out of all the TE's today.
Marcus Thigpen fumbles a punt
Two-Minute Offense:
First team vs First team Moore goes 4-10, had a nice throw to Chad who made a nice catch in traffic but other than Chad catch in traffic, nothing spectacular.
Second team vs Second team Garrard 1-5, 0 points. too many check downs by Garrard.
Camp Notes:
Tony McDaniel has a hard cast on his right hand
Murtha who apparently was seen spotting a limp yesterday looks perfectly fine today, no sign of a limp.
Samuda saw a ton of work at today's scrimmage. First with the second team where he has completely replaced veteran Ryan Cook, then at RG with the 3rd team. If there was a player on the field at almost all times it was Josh Samuda.
Oh, how the mighty have fallen. Nate Garner is now a 3rd team LG & Ryan Cook is the 3rd team C.
There is absolutely no doubt Tannehill was the most impressive QB today. He was calling audibles at the line, ran a no huddle & kept his eyes down field. Tannehill looked real good.
Garrard moves the chains, but he is very Pennington-like and enjoys checking down way too much.
Moore did not look good, in fact it was darn right ugly. He throws to many incomplete passes, his throws are inaccurate, would be sacks, he really struggled today.
In this exact order Naanee, Bess & Ocho were the best WRs today. Chris Hogan really stands out. Did not notice Wallace or Pruitt
Fasano had a big day clearly the best TE on the field, expecting him to have a big year in this O.
Pouncey had some high snaps, he better get this out of his system before the season.
Tannehill's roll out for a TD would have won Play of Day, but the reports are no lie, Naanee looks like a beast out there & him wrestling Carroll in mid air for a catch was incredible.
Dolphins first team D looks intimidating as hell especially in the middle. Big Nasties! Props to the 2nd team Oline for having to go up against those guys.
Chris Hogan really stands out. He is a big strong WR, caught everything & stayed last on the field with Ryan & Bush. Shows kid wants it.
Hit of the Day: S Anderson Russell lit up Marcus Thigpen today.
this is the most all around positive i have ever heard..from training camp reports. I think we will have a highly productive qb this year..defense has always tore our offense a new one and we have looked inconsistent on offense in years pass, but now we look decent. Judging from how we practice so far, with receivers emerging, i believe we can win 10 games this year with this schedule. Maybe im a homer...but despite the qb controversy and receiver dilemma. I havent been this excited about a season in a very long time. I think we have talent to compete with anybody barring injuries.
