Is it just me or did the Fins pick the one guy at of that group that we didnt want to make it. I would have been super happy with Gibson or Vick, fine with Aromashadu, confused about Campbell, and I am upset about Russel. He is the oldest of the 5. He has 3 career NFL catches, and he didnt impress me nearly to the extent Fred Gibson did. Hopefully we can keep Aromashadu, Gibson and Vick on our practice squad. I have other problems with the final roster:

- I am pleased that we kept Vickerson and Evans, I just dont understand why we kept Zgonina. I know he is a quality veteran backup, but so is David Bowens, and Dan Wilkinson. 10 D-lineman seems a little excessive. I would much rather have given the roster spot to Fred Beasely or a 6th reciever.

- I like Eddie Jackson as our 4th CB, but I dont understand keeping Michael Lehan, who didnt play hardly all summer, as our 5th CB rather than keeping Deke Cooper. I liked Cooper on special teams, and he has had a better career. Cooper was a starter in Jacksonville.

- I know the roster spot thats open is suppost to go to a RB, but I am worried that there is no one worth it. Najeh Davenport and Lee Suggs are seriously injury prone, Ron Dayne also has had injuries all training camp and other than that one run against Dallas last year has not shown me anything. There a couple of young guys worth taking a look at such as Lional Gates, Jarret Payton, Damien Nash, Artose Pinner, and maybe Cedric Humes. But nobody jumps out at me like we should definetly go after that guy. Maybe we trade Zgonina for a RB?

you might not have wanted Russell to make it, but I'm fine with him making it. He earned it through camp and preseason.

Gibson still needs to toughen up (he's improved his catching ability, but he can't play ST, and he's still scared of contact).

Vick didn't make it yet because he's not ready to contribute this year (get him a year of practice at WR, and he'll be on the team next year.)

Aromashadu will be on the team next year, maybe later this year. He just got lost in the shuffle.

Cambell missed almost all of camp with a minor injury.

Well, Russell was just as good as any of them and he is a stud on ST. Noone shows any love for ST standouts like Russell, Minor, and Sammy. Don't forget we had 1 of the best coverage teams in the NFL last year with mostly the same crew.

didnt want to make it? how do you know? You talk to him on the phone last night? besides, Vick/Gibson on PS now.

Just letting you guys know... the open roster spot was filled on waivers by Kendyl Jacox, OL from the Saints

I still can't beleive we are going in to the season with only 2 rb's. Nick's gotta have something going on behind the scenes!

It's not just you. Saban picked the guy that no one expected to make the team. God only knows why. :shakeno:

-I'm hoping Saban's gambling that Devin won't be picked up so he can continue to keep a tab on him for the next offseason. We did burn a 7th rounder to get him and Saban's not one to cut losses so soon.

-I think Zgonina's trade bait for a team perhaps near the deadline who's looking for DT help. Plus, he has playoff experience in case any of the other younger players have the jitters down the stretch.

-Lehan was probably a project Saban wanted to keep going? That's the only reason he could beat out a veteran player like Cooper. Lehan hasn't shown anything. And with two players with injury issues in Allen, Bell, and Tillman, Cooper would've been a pretty good insurance.

- I wouldn't mind us nabbing Jarrett Payton, a former Miami U product like Berlin and Carey. He fits what we need, a power runner who can also pick up the blitz well and possibly be convertable to FB if needed. Plus, he's young yet has NFL experience. If he were as good as his dad, it'd be a no-brainer.

It amazes me how many times I have heard the phrase "burn a 7th rounder".....come on now....IT'S A 7TH ROUNDER for God sake. They usually don't make teams and we had one make it and another who will be back next year (R. Wright). It's like the nickel change you get back from a dollar, if you drop it on the ground on the way to the car....big deal!!
