This team is a rebuilding team in the second year. It is not surprising that we had problems in game one. A center is the leader of the offensive line, and it is not reasonable to assume that offensive line will have a good performance with a new center. Also, the wide receivers and Pennington are not on the same page. Sparano traded-off good chemistry for developing Hartline and Turner. We will be a better team down the stretch, but it will time for Ginn, Bess, and Camrillo to get in synch with Pennington.

if there "rebuilding" as you suggest why are they doing it with a QB that will probably help you win now! but in the long run...he's not a rebulding component! the point is why not build the team with a young QB on/or not on the current roster so when their "built" the team can sustain something good for a long time?

You say it will take time for Bess, Camarillo, and Ginn to get in Sync with Pennington....shouldn't they already be in sync from last season and the preseason? I also agree with Tical, they would put Henne in if it was rebuilding and they weren't going for a 2nd straight division title.

If the team is Rebuilding then why isn't henne and white playing? so they can, you know. "build".

Pennington isn't going to get any better at his age. But the young guys have open skies.

Sparano and company are taking the approach of developing players while trying to win games. They are focusing on developing wide receiver because that is a big weakness on the team. Pennington is a master at developing wide receivers. I admit that they are trading off developing a QB for developing wide receivers. If the wide receivers were better, they might take a different approach. Also, Henne may not be ready. Let's be honest. He is not Matt Ryan, Mark Sanchez, or Matt Stafford. He might be a Joe Falco, but Falco had a much better supporting cast last year. Finally, it is difficult to build a new culture as the foundation of your team with a young QB. Matt Ryan is succeeding, but he is the exception.

No, QBs and wide receivers are not magically in synch because they played together the previous season. This is especially true when the receivers are young.

Your assuming that the only way to rebuild is by developing a young QB.

I don't buy the "developing" part. I don't think camarillo or bess have that much more upside and chad certainly doesn't. The only wideout that has upside is Ginn but he wouldn't know upside if I smacked him in his grill. It was like he was scared that game. I saw the hesitation in him running kicks. The guy just doesn't want to get hit....The biggest crime out of all of this is wasting ronnie brown's talent for some gimmicky base backyard offense. The guy has the potential for 1400+ yards a year IMO if we could open holes for him along with 60+ catches a year. He looks rusty as hell because he only gets 150 carries a year and never gets into a rhythm. I have never seen such mismanagement of genuine talent in my life.

I think us fans have been waiting for the development of players since 1973. I know personally I have been waiting since I became a die hard dolphins fan in the late 80's, but it always seems to be the same song and dance. Except this time we actually have some resemblance of a defense and the offense is well...offensive....

ok this wanders across the line from rational optimist to whiny apologist. why spend time justifying a performance that no one on the team or fanbase considers acceptable

We are not rebuilding now. We are constantly trying to build. Excuses Excuses.

By responding to disagreement, I let this thread meander off topic. Everyone read the title again. The point is that all of you have unrealistic expectations. There are two point made in this topic:

  • It is unreasonable to believe the offensive line will perform well with a new center that was not with the team last year in the first game.
  • The other is that Sparano is going with a veteran QB that allows the offense and the wide receivers to grow

Again, the point is why do you think the offense should be performing well.

there's a difference between week1 and mid season form....that said the offense will have to increase it's output by at least 4 times to be competitive....huge task to complete....

I can understand being frustrated with continual attempts to build a winning franchise, but this is only the second year of the BP front office. Is it reasonable to assume that they would make all of the roster moves necessary to completely rebuild a team in two years?

Well none of his other rebuilds have had long term success so excuse me if Im not super excited. Teams add pieces every year. teams play to win, you dont have 5 years to finally build winner. We made the playoffs last year and Im sure we are not signing players like Grove just to rebuild.

sigh screw the panic button but also screw that fact that other teams can plug in a player here and a player there and never miss a beat. I'm tired of excuses.
