1st off, the defense is always ahead of the offense at this point in training camp. Secondly, we have one of the best dlines in the entire NFL so they are going to win their share of battles against any oline. Bringing Evan Mathis in now will not help that. I read that pouncy was even put on his ass a few times against this dline and im pretty sure the same would happen to Mathis. You can scheme your way to an affective offensive line if you have the right weapons which we didn't last year. We didn't have the quick great route running WR's and big easy target TE's last year to get the ball out quick and precise. Now we do. We gotta wait at least one or two preseason games before we make any decisions on signing Mathis.

Having one of the top guards in the game playing in between Alberts and Pounce, rather than a dud in Thomas, or a rookie in Douglas, would most certainly help. Lets not fool ourselves here.

Sure, going against a dominant Dline throughout camp, and the regular season, will help improve our line, but we definitely need to see an improvement on the OLine as camp goes on. Otherwise, we are in trouble. This team might have the talent to win, but if they cant protect Tanny, we arent going anywhere.

Our first preseason game vs Da Bears is 11 days away, with the second vs Carolina 9 days past that on Aug. 22. By then, the team should have decided if they want to go with what we have on the OL, as well as other positions. However, I see no way that we sign Mathis no matter what happens, and there would be no one else to sign, barring trade or early cut, worth having. Final cuts are not until Sept. 5.

Yep if we cant protect tannehill put a fork in us we are done

Many seem to forget a year ago when IMO we started the season with the worst interior line talent that I believe I have ever seen on a Dolphins team. Satele and Colledge were off dumpster diving, and the second guards in Shelly and Dallas started 3 games ever between them. Funny thing happened, they protected Tannehill.

Would anyone trade Turner, Douglas, and Thomas for Colledge, Smith, and Dallas from a year ago? I sure as hell would not. Give Benton some time and he will work some magic with what he has or, we will add a player late.

Well Albert made everyone better. LT is the most important spot on the line and right now Fox sucks at LT. So it looks bad. Albert better stay healthy.

I think they should cross train James at LT and Turner at RT. Because that is the best option we have behind Albert. Signing Mathis makes this easier

Im not worried, yet, considering its only been a few days of camp, and the line is going against guys like OV, Wake, and Suh. Ive been a member of this board for a long time, and while I havent posted a lot early on, I still was around. The offensive line seems to be the theme of this team, along with this site, year in, year out. It is a serious position that seems to not be taken seriously, and I just hope we can figure it out as camp, and the season, move along.

I think the team has a practice with the Panthers in the coming weeks. The OL better hold their own against the Panthers.

This will happen the week before the preseason game on August 22nd

I'd hold off on calling Mathis one of the tops in the game. He's only been good for 2 years. If he was THAT good he'd be signed already. I find it hard to believe that all 32 teams don't see him being worth 4 million a season and he's a top G in the NFL. There's a reason he's not signed yet. Give this unit a shot against a dline that's not one of the top in the league then we'll see

Who cares how long he has been good for. He was the top ranked guard two seasons ago, and one of the top guards again last season. In a league that goes by the what have you done for me lately approach, that is pretty damn good. So tell the good majority of the experts who rank him as one of the top guards in the game, to hold off. And if he was asking for $4 million, he would have been signed already.

He was only a top ranked guard for half the season last year. The other half he didn't play. 34 yrs old in November. That's why he's not signed yet.

No, he was the top ranked guard two seasons ago, and one of the top ranked last year. If you dont know about the player, you really shouldnt comment on him. He would undoubtedly help this line out, even if he is a whopping 34 years old.

Relax, wasn't contradicting your statement about 2013, just last year.

Satele outplayed Pouncey last year. And funny enough, the line played worse when Pouncey came back.

As for your question, you are giving me two piles of crap and regardless of which one is picked, it doesn't make the winner not crap.
