Every draft thread I read on here is about drafting defense with our first pick but it seems as if they're neglecting the guard position with every move so far. Could we be targeting a guard with this pick and is there any player at that position that if picked wouldn't send this forum into an insane uproar?

I can live with Lamp in the 1st, or Johnson (Pitt), Moton in the 2nd.

Lamp does look pretty good, but I don't like the idea. I want defense

I think it's possible and if the player has the right value I think most would be on board with it despite the lack of glamour associated with it.

We all know we need a LG desperately, we all know the OL has been incomplete since......We've spent a lot of resources on OT and C with the 3 first rounder's and clearly tried to address the issue with a couple of third rounder's. With the talent we have on offense now is the time to make the OL as strong as possible.

I think the main problem with taking a guard in the first is that 1. Why not trade down to do it? Or conversely, why not just trade up with our second rounder to do it. There isn't as big a separation, usually, with the top guard and say the 4th best OG. Where as with DE or CB, that bridge is much wider typically.

our first 2-3 picks should be defense. After that, pick all interior offensive linemen from rounds 4-7. Have 10 different OG's battle it out during camp and pre-season, and finding two good starters shouldn't be a problem.

And honestly, that's not the worst idea in the world either. If you go defense with your 1st, 2nd and 3rd, I would love the idea of using all 3 5th rounder's on OL and letting them hammer it out.

If Lamp falls to 22 (he won't), then I would be OK with drafting him.

Otherwise, I would not be in favor of spending pick 22 on a guard.

Do you support Tannehill? If you do...define "starting guard", keeping in mind that last year Jermon Bushrod was a starting guard (last ranked).

I think we're picking the best player on the board with our pick. offense or defense it doesn't matter. but I hope it's defense.

The idea of picking a bunch of guards in the 5th round sounds cute but why should we expect to get anyone better than what we already have in round 5? This is why I want a top free agent guard as you know what you're getting instead of having to gamble as to what you'll get by taking one in the 5th round. I too want to go defense at 22 but a guard in the 2nd round, depending on who else is still there might make sense. You fix the o-line once and for all it'll help our defense too. Guards normally drop so we could get a very good guard at 54 and even lower(maybe trade down in the 2nd and get a 4th? Anything is possible as long as we don't waste any more picks moving up to draft back ups

Ozzy rules!!

When the Vikings are on the clock at picks 86 & 129...those picks have Carroo's name written all over them....

I think they are going Guard in the 2nd or 3rd, Defense needs way too much help, and they have to come out of this draft with at least one premium defensive player, the type of player that are much harder to find after the 1st.

I'd take a premium O-line to keep that defense off the field.

For what it's worth, Armando Salguero said that the plan for the Dolphins is 'absolutely not' to take a guard in the first 2 rounds of the draft.

His track record lately has been fairly accurate, so this should be viewed as credible information.

Gase is a sly devil...

He won't flat out release Tannehill, so he plans to get his neck broken this season to take away the foul scent.

Pret-tee sneaky....
