i would first like to hear your opinions as well.

i believe we need 1 more starting tackle as well as 1 more starting guard both on the left side.

in my opinion we should pick up in FA:
either maurice williams formally of jacksonville
or spend a 3rd round pick in compensation for detroits stephan peterman

or my personal favorite option left at this point :
steal jake scott from the colts and let him and smiley be our 08 guards.

As for the tackle, jake long should be our #1 pick.

Jake Long is NOT going to be our pick. Just QUIT talking about the dude. He was owned two years in a row by Vernon Gholston (3 sacks last year). There are several other tackle prospect in the draft as well, and I'm not so sure Jake Long is even an NFL LEFT tackle. He doesn't have good feet (he does however have relatively long arms and big hands).

I love how before nobody would shut up about McFadden and how we were going to pick him, now you don't hear a peep!!! Where did this Jake Long talk come from??? just cause some stupid media member hypes the dude...and our line sucks we think he's the pick???? NOT A CHANCE IN HELL!!! There are ONLY three possabilities Vernon Gholston, CHRIS Long, and Matt Ryan.

Quarterback is the only position that is worthy of first pick money. In all likelihood the pick ends up with the Falcons....but one way or another the first pick is probably going to be Ryan (as long as he doesnt screw something up).

Parcells puts a premium on the edge pass rusher...and he has picked one AS HIGH AS HE CAN at EVERY stop he has been at. Willie McGinist, John Abraham, and DeMarcus Ware. The pick is CHRIS Long or Vernon Gholston PERIOD. It ALWAYS WAS. I'll be happy with either one - they are both going to be special. personally I think the pick will be Gholston - though Grohs first hand knowledge of Long will be hard for Parcells to overcome. In the end its either the safe bet (Chris Long) cause he can't bust. or the potential of Gholston (which is to be one of the top 3 players off the edge in the league)

They need Hadnot back. Hadnot is a better guard than Scott. There are not a lot of OG's in FA to pick from and Hadnot is better than the others that are still available.

He was owned two years in a row by Vernon Gholston (3 sacks last year)....Dude,Jake Long only gave up 2 sacks by himself and commited only 2 penalties in 4 years of playing at Michigan,i'd say that's pretty good.

I cant believe people still think Long is gonna be a LT. Guy is an absolute beast, and if you think we arent at least considering him your insane.

come on guys we need to get shane olivea for either right or left tackle whichever one carey is not at this guy olivea is the best available o lineman out there and hes young

All I have to say is Chris Naeole He got released from Jacksonville he is a great run blocker and decent pass blocker

Naeole is entering his 11th full year a bit long in the tooth for a lineman. He is depth / utility only and there are other options available. Naeole was more of a run blocker IMHO and had reached a decent plateau as a player never really great but adequate.

I wonder what kind of money he demands.

The people who are against Jake Long are like the people who are against Hillary or against Obama.....outright vicious.

The experts are divided on Long but basically they all say this....he's not as good as Joe Thomas but he's better than D'brickishaw Ferguson. He WILL be the first offensive lineman drafted this year.....so if we absolutely must have an O-line starter come draft day, he will be the pick.

St Louis picks 2nd and if we don't take him they will.

I think that Miami knew that Rex could not get 5 mil per season. They are waiting for that to sink in with him and his agent. Then they will offer 3 - 3.5 mil per season and resign him for another 4-5 years.

That's very possible.

Alot of no-name guards got $7M per year last year....and maybe Rex thought he was going to do that too.
Now that reality has sunk in we may be able to sign him for a reasonable number.

Hadnot would be our best deal IMO because he fits the youth movement still as opposed to Naole and others and now we can get his market value instead of Faneca market value. Not sure how he would feel about Smiley making more but oh well, at least he knows his value on the market.

Dude has been here, done that and knows team members already. I would certainly hold out on him another week or two and see what happens if anything and then make him an offer. But BP may have other plans.

I believe the pick will be sedrick ellis, and they will get a veteran to protect beck, Ot is a possibility later on in the draft.
