So what do folks think we do. Just plug Swansen in at Center and move on? Play Swansen at Center until Brendal returns then play Brendal? Move Larsen to Center (I keep hearing he's a better Center than G) and play Swansen or somebody else at guard? Any other creative options to make the interior not be a mess? Mike Pouncey is looking like a picture of health compared to this group :=).

Just curious what folks think we should do up front.

IMHO, we should keep Larsen at guard so he can build chemistry, play Swanson at C if he is ready, and let Brendel take over at C when he returns. Honestly, I'm comfortable with Brendel at C as long as he is healthy prior to coming off the short term IR.

If Swanson played guard, it would likely be RG , meaning Davis has to change positions from RG to LG, Larsen has to switch positions from LG to C, and Swanson has to play sort of out of position at RG. Then when Brendel comes back, Larsen and Davis would have to change positions again going back to where they play today. That's a lot of switching and lost chemistry time. Just keep everyone where they are at and run with Swanson for a few weeks until Brendel is available.

If we don't get these guys back healthy then this team quickly reverts to the years of bad OL play.

Speaking of OL the Patriots had no problem keeping Brady clean.

Also, My understanding is one of the tackles that played was in for the injured starter.

I doubt they'll make any changes at this time. Larsen will stay at LG where he's been pretty bad and Swamson is the Center for now.

Not sure! I thought Cannon was in the whole game and Trent Brown is the other starter unless you thought Wynn was going to be one of their starting tackles but I'm not sure it was ever trending that way.

Gotcha! But I have to ask this question, how is it that teams like the Patriots for the most part consistently find these guys that can run block and pass protect?

How can there be such a disparity in coaching at the NFL level?

They are super smart. They attack weaknesses better than anyone. Also, Brady is tough to sack. I've always thought their running game was a product of teams being so afraid of their passing game.

You're absolutely right. The Patriots definitely benefit from some Voodoo, mind tactics, too.

But ultimately they're just so much smarter than their opponents more times than not.

Look at their game plan defensively against us

1) Don't allow free releases to those speedy receivers
2) They're smaller receivers so we can jam them at the line
3) In case someone get free let's add a few guys in the secondary
4) Let's not allow the QB to make uncontested throws
5) Let's collapse the OL in such away making it hard for that QB to escape the pocket
6) On running plays 99% of the time the run is coming the opposite way of the RB alignment.

Wash/Repeat

If you think about it. They copied the Jets game plan against us and improved on it.

Why didn't we copy the Lions game plan?

It's just so damn annoying!

Does Asiata have a role in the line? From what I understand he is a good run blocker, something we desperately need. Tannehill might have to roll out frequently to avoid pressure on his side.

It is ****ing annoying! You are spot on! The Loins laid out a damn good plan for anyone to copy. However it didn’t look like Gase watched any of that film or the Jags film. It’s absolutely insane! Gase thinks that he is the smartest person in the room when he clearly isn’t.

The Patriots can go from a passing west coast style, to vertical, to balance to power running philosophy etc in a heartbeat.

Since Gase has been our HC have we ever played a decisively different offensive philosophy?

I swear it's like we run the exact same play week in and week out with a few wrinkles here and there.

You can't win consistently in the NFL like that. You have to be adaptable and able to switch it up instantly.

It's why the Patriots are such a difficult team to play because they can switch it up on both sides of the ball.

Creating the challenging of not really being able to game plan for them because it's like you're playing a different team every week.

Gase isn't going to last long if he isn't willing to adapt what he does offensively.

Be like Bruce Lee, Gase! Be like water!

Agreed 100%! Gase can’t adapt his plan.
