I keep on seeing alot of people saying we'd be playing better with Brees. But what no one takes into consideration is the pressure being put on Culpepper. Even with the knee injury Culpepper is MUCH more mobile than Brees. That being said, if Culpepper is being chased out of the pocket regularly, would Brees be any more effective? Brees would be sacked even more here in Miami. Our number one issue is development of the offensive line. At this point in time Culpepper is making mistakes based on pressure. When Daunte gets the oppertunity to stand up in the pocket and make a read, he throws beautiful passes. However, like any quarterback when he is forced to make a throw, he makes the wrong one. Ronnie is also struggling, but yet he displays characteristics of a great runningback. The struggle is at the line. You can never blame a quarterback for being sacked 8 times in a game. Ronnie Brown was not a bad choice by Saban at #2. Daunte Culpepper is a talented quarterback who will do great things in Miami. Drew Brees was not the better option. We just need some talent up front.

I think c-pep is holding on to the ball to long .Its not always his fault but most of the time it is...

There is a lot of fault to go around... But let's focus on what we need to improve upon and get better each week.

I heard an interesting comment on MNF last night... Someone said, "Playing QB requires repetition. You have to keep playing in order to get your timing down." And that's what we need right now. We need to be patient and improve where we need to.

If anyone really thought we were going to the Super Bowl this year is hardly realistic. Just keep getting better, that should be our focus.

And believe me, Harrington is NOT the answer.

I can't wait for October 22nd when the Dolphins come home so I can wear my number 8 jersey again...

you must first understand the reasons why daunte is being "chased out" of the pocket regularly, grasshoppa. brees would be more effective in this offense right now because he doesn't freak out under pressure. daunte needs an o line that can give him all day to throw.

I just don't get what many of you are seeing.

BOTH positions are CLEARLY having trouble.
OL AND QB.

There are many times where Culpepper has had ample time to read, make progressions and make good decisions which he did none of with WR's open.

You don't have to ignore a players bad play to still support him as a fan.

Culpepper has issues and hopefully he can work them out.

Exactly. Some people want to put all the blame on one and completely let off the hook the other. I would add Mularkey's play calling in the first two games. It improved slightly in the game vs tennessee with quicker routes that addressed the protection problems somewhat but his playcalling still has a ways to go

Unfortunately, many have taken his bad play and are being unsupportive....already calling for Harrington to get the starts. What you said is a great point, I just dont think it echoes if Cpep struggles to most fans. I personally have NO problem with Daunte starting each week.

I know, I know.

It's one extreme or another.
Drives me crazy too.

You guys should really get on Miamidolphins.com and listen to saban. He said after the game that Daunte made huge strides and he thought ALL the sacks were due to a hole in the o-line, not Pep hanging on to the ball too long, as he did in the first two games.

I think 25% of the time it is, definetly not most.

Yes, it is more than 1 person ...

BUT the most important person ... the QB, needs to be able to adjust to the time he has in the 'pocket' ... or lack thereof ... I do NOT blalme the OL for Culpepper's play ... but I do blame them for our lack of running game ...

It's IRRELEVANT, but BREES WOULD IN FACT BE DOING MUCH BETTER THAN CULPEPPER ... that is NOT EVEN DEBATABLE ...
