Offensive line step by step review?

I believe the issue was that he wanted a 2 year contract and Rick said no, one year only.

God forbid a 2-year deal...He deserves a 3-year deal to play with this young line.

Two words: Screen pass.

And do it again and again and again until they back off of the blitz. Sprinkle in some quick slants and hitches and they'll back off.

Also, the thing of it is, if they blitz and you manage to block them fully, you have a chance for six. If Pitt and NY blitz on every down - which we should EXPECT - we will have opportunities, especially now that the veteran Damian McIntosh is in there. The backs have to understand that it is their responsibility to pick up the extra man. If he blitzes you must pick up the blitzer. If it is a screen pass to the blitzing side, then you must chip the blitzer enough to knock him off of his stride before moving to the flat.

Yup. Not giving Pete Kendall what he wanted was a huge mistake. He is a good lineman and we all know you can't have too many good linemen.

I don't think I could dig it up, but from what I read, Kendall wanted at least a two year deal, while Rick offered him one. The Jets stepped up, and we lost out on a very good vet player. :shakeno:

Did Rick think we were fine with the players we had? Kendall is a good player that got cut because Denny Green had to make an example of him for complaining about the tough practices. He could have played center or guard for us. A huge wasted opportunity.

I was for seeing Wanny gone, but keeping Rick... now I am thinking Rick might need to go to. If he did as poorly as it seems in getting this OL together. Depends on what Gordon and Feeley show though.

After edit: Too slow. :D

One thing we have to face is that players are not anxious to come to this team. They see a lame duck coach with a lame org that will probably blow up at any moment.

The Fins have to work harder to get players. So why not give Kendall a two year contact. Its no skin off their back. They have been throwing draft picks around like there is no tommorow.

I have news for you RW.There is no tommorow for the dynamic duo.

I read the same thing the rest of you read but there were some details left out. Kendall got a much bigger deal than two years most likely because of the signing bonus.

Kendall said 15 to 18 teams expressed interest in him, but he went with the Jets in part to be closer to home.

"It meant a lot to my wife," Kendall said. "I'm married and I have three young children. It meant a lot to her to be within an easy drive of her parents or my parents, but it was far beyond geography the reason I decided to sign here."

I do not think we would have gotten Kendel unless we vastly overpaid. Lets face it, the Phins almost never overpay a player.

Like was also mentioned. Players are not anxious to come here right now. So if he got a comparable deal elsewhere and that place was closer to home, why would he sign in Miami?

I think Ricks ego gets in the way of clear thinking..
