My favorite NFL Draft site is nfldraftcountdown.com

Their current mock draft is here: http://www.nfldraftcountdown.com/sub/mockdraft.html

They have projected 4 OTs to be taken in the first round + one guy who can play both guard and tackle.

I think it is pretty much a given that we'll have a top 5 pick. According to this site, this year's crop of offensive linemene is great. Why not trade down and take a guy who may not be as good as Joe Thomas, but still could be an excellent player for us?

I mean, is Joe Thomas that much better than Sam Baker of USC or Jake Long of Michigan?

is there a reason so many mocks say that Miami is gonna draft a DE with the 1st rounder? We already have DE's......Taylor, Roth, Bowens.

as for ur question...i dont think Joe Thomas is THAT much better than Baker or Long.U also gotta look at these people's schedules...WHO are they matching up against? Is Joe Thomas constantly playing against a DE who is REAL GOOD...is Jake Long? Sam Baker? It sucks that so many of these college football teams gotta play crap teams all year...Top 15 should play Top 15, and THEN ull see who's real good.

Well, the thing w/Long is that he probably won't be a left tackle in the NFL, he'll probably have to move to RT or inside to guard (similar to an Eric Steinbach type of guard). Carey's turning into a solid RT for us, and personally, I think Thomas fits into the mold of lineman we seem to prefer, and he's very athletic for 6'8" and 310-315 lbs. I though, would also like us to get rid of the big, behemoth style and add a Joe Thomas, an Eric Steinbach via free agency and get some more athleticism on the O-line. A tackle like Thomas doesn't come around very often, why pass it up? O-line has been our most glaring need for several years, and has not properly been addressed. IMO it's high-time we fix that.

Perhaps because our DL is filled with old men.

thats true to an extent...but Roth, R. Wright, M. Wright, Evans, Vickerson arent old. Id like to see Vickerson change to DE, and just keep the Wright boys and Evans in the middle.

apparently Joe Thomas has a knee problem...and im sick of Saban drafting and signing guys with health issues. Altho now that i think of it...Joe Thomas, Steinbach, Hadnot, Shelton, Carey....sounds like a dominant O-line

All these guys are 3-4 type of DL players, specifically DEs other than maybe Fred Evans. That mock is projecting Gaines Adams to be an OLB in our 3-4 a la Shawn Merriman/Joey Porter type of OLB to put across from JT when we use the 3-4 alignment.

Thomas tore his ACL in his bowl game last year. He's totally fine this year. Crowder seems to have worked out quite well and he's torn his ACL in each knee. Watch some tape on Thomas, he's an absolute mauler who can move. He's a very impressive player. And the line you have listed, that's my idea, though I'd rather insert Toledo at RG simply because I think he's got more athletcism than Shelton (though for cap reasons, I doubt that happens).

Great post. I'm all for shoring up the OL. If this guy's special, then we need him.

Right. And only Dolphins homers like us think that guys like Roth, Vickerson, Wright, and Evans will be good. I don't say that in a rude way, but to "outsiders", Roth is a bust, and the other guys are 7th round picks.

i used to think that Roth was a bust too, but according to Boomer...he isnt. I watched some plays with Roth in, hes definetely gonna be a good player...it may take a few years, but he will do good. As for Evans, he proved A LOT in pre-season...Manny Wright was a mauler last season. Vickerson MAY be a bust tho.

I personally don't think Roth is a bust. I just think that's the national consensus. He was a second rounder, who hasn't done much to speak of on the field.

yeah, as long as we have Taylor, Carter, Bowens, Holliday...Roth wont get much playing time.
