Offensive lines win championships. If you look at all the Super bowl winners from 2000, all of them had great offensive lines. The Patriots have won 3 of the last Super bowls because of their dominating offensive line. Our main problem over the last few years has been the offensive line. This year we have no offensive lineman who is either dominating or one of the top linemen in the league. This is the reason why our team has a record of 1-4. The whole offense hinges on the offensive line. Since we have a poor offensive line, both our running and passing game have not been able to produce. In order to be able to pass the ball efficiently, a quarterback needs an average of 4-5 seconds. This season our quarterbacks have not been given the proper amount of time to be able to make plays. In the running game, we have not opened any holes for Ronnie Brown. When Ronnie is given the ball, he either is hit or has no running room to be able to make a play.

The losses this season have come not because of the lack of talent at skilled positions but because our offensive line has not given us a chance to have a successful offense. If you look at the talent we have on this team, it is unacceptable to be at 1-4. But I truly believe if we had offensive linemen which could open holes for the running back and pass protect better, then we could possible be in first place right now. If you look at the first place team in each division (Philadelphia, Chicago, New Orleans, St Louis, New England, Baltimore, Indianapolis, and San Diego), there is one similarity among these teams which is a dominating offensive line. I hope Saban finally realizes this and starts to invest money into the offensive line. If he invests greatly into the offensive line, we could be one of those great teams instead of a team that is always hyped up to be good.

Let me see Marino championships :shakeno: , defence win championships.

This is logical for those among us that use logic. But really you need a great OL to overcome any other shortcomings....you need a Great D to win championships equally.

How come Kansas City hasnt won a championship? And its not an average of 4-5 seconds its and Average of 2.9 to 3.5 seconds it takes for a pass play to develop. Someone posted the Statistics in one of the threads before I'm too lazy to check my resent posts. I agree with you to an extent but i think you need a rather good O-line and a stellar Defensive unit to win championships.

We all know you win in the trenches. This is why we are terrible, nothing new here.

Marino never had a rushing attack. His O-Line was geared to pass protection.

Ok, yes Defenses do have an equal say in the Championship claim. And probably as Baltimore proved, a Great D can overcome a weaker O contribution. Even more so then a great O would overcome a wearker D contribution from a given team.

I too would chose a Great D, but without a solid Oline (which Balt had and could play basic dont make mistakes offense) you cant overcome the problems caused with having a solid set of O skill players without a solid OL.

Why should we begin to use logic? Most posters on this board cannot fathom logic, we are the antithesis of Vulcanology.

Anyone who has followed the NFL for more than 5 years should know the games are won in the trenches, and we have no trench diggers on offense.

I am not saying in every situation a great offensive line wins championships but most of the superbowl winners have had dominating offensive lines. That should be a really good indication right there on how important an offensive line is.

And by the way, we could win with our defense. I lay this all at the feet of Hudson Houck, and Saban needs to wise up & spend some money on the OL. Look at how stinky we expected the Jets to be, but they (Mangini) knew where he had to put his money, drafted two OL in the first round, and the Jets are playing far better than anyone expected because of it.

i will say this the bucs had a terrible offensive line in the early part of the year they won the super bowl but as the year progressed so did they & on that super bowl sunday they played like all pros !!!!! i hope houck can some how coach our players into playin a whole lot better.

Why are the 5-0 Chicago Bears doing so well this year? There's some really good reasons why in this article:

Here's another article:

http://www.usatoday.com/sports/football/nfl/bears/2006-10-12-grossman_x.htm

"If you have a good offensive line and a good defense," Grossman says, "chances are you're going to have a championship team."

They're probably going to totally embarrass the Arizona Cardinals in prime time on Monday Night Football this week in Arizona's new stadium. Matt Leinart will be running for his life and we'll see WHY Edgerrin James has only been able to do 3.5 ypc so far this year ... kind of like Ronnie with our offensive line. Chicago has a good veteran offensive line. It'll be interesting to watch the differences between them.

Gawd I hope Saban and his assistant coaches will have us ready to play them by 11/5. They are probably going to give us all we can handle. No doubt about it. It sounds like they might have a 1985 Bears team going this year.

Man i swear,no matter what you say in a thread, what you believe or how you feel about certain things, theres going to be at least 8 of 10 people who disagree with you and tell you exactly why you are wrong and what the real reason is for the point you are trying to make. Why is that?GO DOLPHINS....

That's a no brainer that you need a good OL. Ironically, if things had worked out, we would've had a chance to nab the best OL on some of those teams LT McNeill would've been a better pick than Allen and C Kreutz would've been a great FA if his wife didn't want to stay Chicago. As it is, since there's no quality FA LT out there, we need to find one early in the draft since there's a pretty good crop of them this year. Our last 1st round pick on a OT is currently our best OT (Carey).
