Drew Brees needs a big day (402 yds) to break Marino's passing yardage in a season record.

First drive 0/2, 0 yds

Almost a quarter into the game and he has NO yards! I doubt very much he's going to get it.

He's capable of putting up 200 yds or so in a quarter, the record wont be safe until the final whistle blows

I hate when people purposefully try to break records. That kind of ruins the whole essence of them, since records are supposed to be feats of achievement that occurred naturally while giving one's best to win a game...not something someone consciously 'tried' to do.

Here's praying for a lousy day for Brees. God knows I'm sick of Marino's records tumbling.

In other news, Detroit is down 14-0. We're 45 minutes away from a pretty amazing thing. Back to back years of the first 16 game undefeated regular season (with no SB victory!!!!), and the first 16 game winless season.

honestly I think he'd be more likely to hit the record if his team fell way behind early and abandoned the run. with a large lead (and nothing really to play for), Carolina would probably go pretty soft zone.

I hope Brees doesn't hit the number two mark of all time (which is Dan Fouts' isn't it? or Warner?)

The panthers just got to keep the ball, like they are doing until now

yea, I just don't see it happening today. 402 yards isn't impossible, but it isn't exactly easy to do every week either.

Another FG for the Panthers, they lead 9-3. Saints will get the ball with 6:56 left in the half.

Yea, but it's a matter of getting the possessions, though. Right now Carolina has had the ball longer than New Orleans at a ratio of about 3 to 1. If Carolina keeps controlling the clock, Brees has no chance.
