The following is a list of all of the franchise and transition tag salaries for the 2010 season.

The numbers are based on the average of the highest five or ten players at each position, depending on which tag you use.

Quarterback: $16.405 million [franchise tag], $14.546 million [transition tag]
Defensive end: $12.398m, $10.193m
Offensive line: $10.731m, $9.142m
Linebacker: $9.680m, $8.373m
Cornerback: $9.566 m , $8.056 m
Wide receiver: $9.521m, $8.651m
Running back: $8.156m, $7.151m
Defensive tackle: $7.003m, $6.353m
Safety: $6.455m, $6.011m
Tight end: $5.908m, $5.248m
Punter/kicker: $2.814m, $2.629m

I don't know exactly weather the 49ers, Steelers, and Patriots want to spend $7 million on a NT for 1 season if a long term deal isn't reached, but if they dont it would sure help us out.

Hmmmm, looks like I need to take both my kids down to the park and start teaching them to punt & kick. Average joe is lucky to make enough busting his balls to take his family to one or two games a year and kickers are making millions. Gotta wonder what is wrong with the world!?

The DT number is not as high as i thought it would be after the big contract haynesworth got last offseason

Its the average of the top 5. Defensive tackle became a glorified position just recently...I'd say maybe last 3 or 4 years. Before that DT didnt get paid as much. It compares to the offensive line except QBs take care of o-linemen (kind of an unwritten rule).

I don't think Hampton is worth signing, he has bad wheels

Wilfork will be tagged and perhaps signed and traded but not to us

Franklin will probably be locked up

There are two main reason the Phins won't get Wilfork:

1. Besides having to shell out a ton of $$$ we would also owe the Pats a first and third rounder in compensation, and

2. There is no way Belichick would allow Wilfork to go to an AFC East rival. I could see him going to Tampa as they have the cash.

There is nothing wrong with the world. Learn the free market system.

Stop supporting your favorite team, then punters/kickers will not be paid as much.

They fulfill a supply to your demand.

I think that is exactly what he meant. What is wrong with the 'world' that they throw there money away at WWE wrestling and NFL football with all the other needs this world has...teachers making chump change while the coaches make millions. stuff like that. he makes a legitimate point, i think.

if that's the average top 5 salary for DTs, they are still criminally underpaid. i think we can kiss any NT in FA goodbye.

Yup. I think that those numbers all but ensure that at the very least Wilfork and Hampton are off the market.

Kind of a naive view......Anyone (yes, even kickers, punters and Ted Ginn) making it to the NFL has talent beyond the normal....that's why they get the money they do. Since it's something like the .01 % of football players will ever make it to the NFL it shows how limited the talent pool is. Many people can become teachers, lawyers, etc. if they dedicate the time but NOT everyone can play in the NFL (or MLB, NHL, NBA, etc.) if they do not have the necessary extraordinary skills and physical gifts....this includes kickers.

For lack of a better cliche..."LIFE IS NOT FAIR".......see: Actors making multi millions of dollars for a cushy, pampered job, Jersey Shore (the MTV show....bunch of idiots) dopes now making $$$$, evangelists, etc.....

The Niners have already come out and said they will tag Franklin if they have to. He's not going anywhere.

I posted the story a week ago.

During an uncapped year, it won't matter, if it were a capped year, then there might be issues for those clubs..
