Shame to waste what was probably the best defense we have fielded in the last 10 years
Richt has failed to let a leadership on offense develop. Richards was one of them and he never was replaced in a leadership role. This constant replacing QBs also prevented any kind of leadership development in the most important position on offensive. I was appalled at all these drops today. And there was no consequences.
I remember in the past (in the good old days) when a receiver dropped a pass players like Irving or Hill went into their faces. That was usually the one and only drop a receiver had - for the rest of the season.
When you look at Manny and how aggressive he coaches the defense or the special teams coach gets in the players faces it seems like Richt is taking the offense on a field trip in the park. The only thing missing is that they enter the stadium in twos, holding hands and skip walk.
It is ironic almost comical that we have two football teams down here led by supposedly offensive geniuses and both offenses have no identity, no leadership roles and are either stagnant or evolve backwards. And both coaches refuse to handoff playcalling.
There is nothing worse or no bigger enemy to the development of a football team than a coach with a mega-ego and no history to back it up.
The problem now will be to hold onto to Manny Diaz. If a coach like Manny sees that his labors could help a team to make the next step onto the big stage he will try to see it through and might stay another year or even two. But with the thought of his work here being for naught because of an inept offense which is mainly caused by a poor coach who is utterly incompetent at this point he may look for a better place to coach or even become a headcoach. It will be almost impossible to replace him because that defense is all him from playing on the field, to intensity, turnover chain and excitement.
This season could become much worse than our 7-5 record. It could have a long lasting effect on recruiting especially if some coaches are running off to go somewhere else.
