I propose this thread be closed until a WESTERN CONFERENCE CHAMPION is officially crowned

The mavs are already crowned..., by those who are realistic...

Since I'm an aging man nearing my deathbed, my memory is foggy, but I seem to remember in the days of yesteryear, a young enthusiastic young man saying the same thing about a team who led 3 games to 1 against the Phoenix Suns, in an earlier round of the playoffs. I believe his name was Amailbox or something like that....

why not just create a thread saying "CONGRATS TO THE WORLD CHAMPION PHOENIX SUNS!"

I don't think you understand the Amars curse fully. There are forces at work from far beyond which I can't even fully comprehend!

You see, back in 1992-93, the Suns were the #1 seed in the West, but when forced to play the abysmal Lakers in the first round, they lost both their first two home games. This was back in the days of the 5 game first round, so their backs were against the wall. Led by determined coach, Cotton Fitzsimmons, the team battled back, won the next three games, and advanced all the way to the Finals, losing 4-2. They never advanced to the Finals again.

In July of 2004, Cotton died at 72. He was inducted into the Suns Ring of Fire in '05.

The Suns went on to lose in the Conference Finals in '05, and things appeared dormant.

When the Suns fell behind 3-1 against the Lakers in the first round, poster Amars added a signature to his posts proclaiming the next round of the playoffs, a Clipper-Laker matchup.

Sound eerily familiar? It appears the spirits were angered (namely that of Cotton). The Suns never lost again.

And buddy boy, you just angered the late NBA coach again.

Interesting story, but Paul Westphal was the Suns coach that year...
