How exciting is this? It's hard to find franchise quarterbacks and Miami just got maybe the 6th or 7th best qb in football! For all the talk about Matt Leinart, Vince Young, Jay Cutler, Brodie Croyle, Charlie Whitehurst etc., all those guys are unproven. Some will make it and some won't. Most will likely be disappointments, or certainly take a few years to develop.

I like the signing of LJ Shelton, who should become a better player under Hudson Houch. Renaldo Hill probably takes care of one safety spot and gives Saban a lot of versatility in the secondary. Sedrick Hodge is most likely a backup, but a quality one, and Andre Goodwin essentially takes over for Howard in the nickel/dime packages.

I would love for Miami to get either Lavar Arrington or Julian Peterson. How great would it be to have an impact linebacker like that in their prime? If they get one of those guys, the Dolphins could really concentrate on the secondary in the draft or maybe take one of the big DT's early depending on how the draft falls. Gabe Watson might not be a bad idea with a slight trade down.

There are still plenty of holes in the secondary and work needs to be done on the offensive line, but Saban is off to a great, great start in year two.

Julian Peterson would be great :D , oh well I can dream :cooldude:

Great post... I agree with everything, especially about being excited. I sport my Dolphins hat very proud these days...

We do need some help with our secondary though, and since Saban is a secondary kind of guy, I'm not too worried about that. I'm sure he is addressing this, more then likely in the draft.

I don't want to see any long balls on us again this year. The home Buffalo game was hard to watch, except when we turned it around!

:dolphins:

Our DB's right now are:
Daniels, Poole, Hill, Goodwin. I say add to that one FA (bring back Shulters?)
and a draft pick (Cromartie?) and we will be set.

Im happy so far. I think we will be good going into the draft. I like what Nick has done so far

When pep is healthy I think he is the 4th best QB in football behind P.Manning, Brady and Palmer

Its always good to see a good pep!!!
DOLPHINS ARE GOING TA ROCK DA FRANCHISE!!

Interesting. After his 2004 season, I had him third after Manning and Brady so we are on the same page. Obviously, he needs to show that 2005 was a fluke which I think he will do. Right now Ronnie Brown and Ricky Williams (if he can play) may be the biggest beneficiaries of the Culpepper deal. More holes will open up in the running game. Man, I can't wait!

Palmer's gotta play a few more years before he ranks with Daunte, whose career numbers put him among the top all-time qb's strictly on production & qb rating (according to some well-researched posts on this board & articles I've read recently).

I also think he will turn the secondary around in a hurry. I wouldn't be surprised to see Saban pick a db in the 1st and 3rd rounds. He may also trade down for more picks. Either way, you've got to trust what he is doing.

Cromartie might very well be the pick. A gamble for sure, but certainly someone with tremendous talent. I really think that Saban views Poole as a nickel/dime guy, but that has yet to be decided and Poole has ability. Also, I feel Daniels would be better at FS.

yeah all they need now is a decent o-line and a GOOD corner some1 like

"plenty of holes" ????? Where are they? If so, then so does every other team in the league. How many teams can honestly boast 3-4 quality CB's? There are only a handful of impact safeties in the league as well.
You are looking for Rod Woodson and Ronnie Lott at safety and Deion Sanders and Champ Bailey at CB.
