Offseason OL plan

If pops Jameswsr and I were able to bring Ray to Thailand, there would be an entirely different picture……but I can’t post them. 🤣
I have an idea, I’ll pay for my flight and I’ll cook you and everyone a nice Thanksgiving meal, cause you probably haven’t had that in a while.:)

He already took a huge pay cut.
Well temporarily, he is taking time to decide if he wants to play next season or retire. If he decides to play next season then we are going to have to give him more money. He is not playing for the league minimum.

that's fair. We really don’t know what we got with him yet. Could go either way but I'm 99% sure that he'll get the first shot at LT so I hope it works out for the best

I'm confident Paul will improve with an off-season in an NFL weight room and some experience as a rookie. The unknown is 'how much?' Have no idea what his ceiling is.

are you wanting Banks because you think he's the best OL on the board or are other already gone? I ask cause I'd rather draft Campbell or Membou at 13 if they’re there
High probability they will both be gone by then. I think that's why the sudden chatter about Banks. He also cover two bases, if you move him inside like many say he'll end up he improves the RG position instantly (as a rookie) over what we had last year. Should Paul/Armstead falter at Tackle he moves out. Bottom line is we get tougher in the trenches.

I believe Paul deserves a chance to start. I don't see him as a guard, so he's either LT or RT.

I like your two in free agency. Sign me up for one, and then draft another in maybe R3 (Rutledge)?

Concentrate on the defensive line, which needs a lot of work. Seiler and Robinson are really the only guarantees at the moment.

Kenneth Grant would be pretty awesome NGL

We normally keep 9 O-linemen
There is no way Miami is going to use that many resources on the offensive line.

Here's my only issue with that. History has shown that you can sign relatively cheap DL in free agency and this crop of draft able DT's looks deep into the 3rd-4th round.

I think of the 10 picks we have 2-4 should be DL and I could see getting Darius Alexander in the 3rd or Oregon's Jamaree Caldwell in the 4th. I think that position has guys we can get later who at least have the chance to become rotational DTs and future starters.

Quality OL is much tougher and more expensive to sign as free agents. Teams don't let good, young OL walk. Any guard we get is probably going to have age, injury or performance questions. We have to give ourselves the best chance to get some quality, young OL and I think that happens in the first 3 rounds of this draft.

I'd love a combo of Banks/Membou/Zabel in round 1 and then Ratledge/Jackson/Johah Savaiinaea in round 2. I don't think any of those guard prospects make it to round 3, especially to pick 98. I think the right players set us up to have a solid O line for at least a little while. I know we don't have the best track record of selecting the best OL, just saying it's possible to get 2 OL in this draft early who could make a difference.

This is a trenches draft, imo, and it matches up with what Miami needs. I think a good strategy would be to take 4 OL and 3-4 DL in this draft. Won't happen because we'll need safeties, tight ends and other positions and there's probably going to be a guy at pick 13 and/or 48 that proves too good to pass up.
