Offseason OL plan

But, but, but I didn't get into boot camp until 1965.
It started like this:

Once upon a time... - LOL

The important point to make is that I went down to the Naval Reserve Center to sign up - and ended up in the Marine Corps?

It was all "uphill" after that. - LOL
Birth of a Legend!

How does Grier still have a job when we have this many needs after he rebuilt the team thru the draft with a cache of draft picks from the Tunsil trade?

I have a feeling that Will Fries (my personal top FA target) is going to cost quite a bit but I’d be more than content with say, James Daniels + an older stop gap vet option who can still play. But if you can get Daniels and a Will Hernandez we’d be ready to roll.

Chop is a good situational player, not a plus player in rushing defense. You think he’s on the field on early downs over Chubb and Phillips? I don’t.

Just watch Texas against Georgia or Ohio State. That’s 3 games to watch, then get back with me. He couldn’t handle Mykel Williams, Jalon Walker, or JT Tuimoloau. He is a guard at the next level and not in the top 3 guards in my opinion.

I think Campbell, Membou, and even Zabel are better players. Watch those 3 games and let me know what you see.

Zabel is one of the best scheme fits in this draft for the Dolphins, IMO. He’s an ideal target if he makes it to 48.

Dolphins brass spent a lot of time with him, reportedly.

Agreed on Zabel's fit, adn even beyon fit, he's a complete player that's atheltic and a mauler. I doubt he makes it into the 2nd round though. He might even be drafted ahead of Booker after Booker's poor combine showing. I dont think great combine results should elevate prospects (i.e. Vernon Gholston), but a bad combine can definitely be a concern.

Couple other points for this thread:
  • Banks is not a top 20 pick. Even if he was, he projects to be an OG and I am not drafting an OG at #13, with other impact players at premium postions still on the board.
  • Chop Robinson wasn't a reach. How are people even still suggesting that? He was the top producing rookies DE, and didnt even start the whole year. He also had no supplementary help from the other DE spot.

Verse won DROY. He was better than Chop.
Quinyon Mitchell was better as well, also BTJ.

Daniels I would not be happy with.

For me personally, we have gotten in trouble the last 3 years because of injuries. Specifically to the O line

With the last 3 years, I think it would be continued negligence to fix the O Line with more injury prone players.

Injuries happen and can to anyone, look at Hunt. But if we sign Daniels, we should already expect him to miss games.

I would like to go into the season with confidence in the line and not place bets on how soon our backups become starters lol.

Still of the original thinking of taking a quality Guard in FA, and a quality Guard in the one of the first two rounds.

We need one of the big boys on Defense in the middle very early (1st or 2nd), and Safety, and a Corner. A TE in the 3rd would also help us.

No one knows. But my guess is it’s because of Ross. Ross is an idiot if he doesn’t realize the ppl running the dolphins are not it. Which means he doesn’t really care about the dolphins like most of us here on this site do.
