Ross & Ireland have both said a QB is a must this offseason. They have both said they feel with a QB they have the roster to win now. A rookie QB does not lend itself to a 'winning now' mantra.

In my mind Ross and Ireland will aggressively target Manning if healthy then Flynn as 2nd option.

Ireland will then use the no.1 pick on a player who can start day 1, on a position of need.

Biggest need RT.

Offseason = Manning/Flynn & Reiff/Martin.

Even if RT is the biggest need, doesn't mean you draft it in the first round.

Personally I rate pass rusher, FS, QB and LG as bigger needs, and we could always use more playmakers on offense.

If we go Flynn, Miami just needs to draft the BPA that isn't a QB. I don't think a RT will be the BPA with the #8 overall pick.

Not my personal preference, just what I fell Ireland will do.

If we want to compete and win next year then quarterback and pass rusher have to be the top two priorities. Saying that, I think it is a possibility that the Dolphins get a RT in the first.

I've heard Ireland speak very highly of John Jerry and Lydon Murtha at RT and I think it is easier to fill RT than to fill say OC, which is why Pouncey was a more understandable pick . . . and it was in the middle of the first, not top 10. Now he may go that way, but I'm thinking he would trade down to make it happen first. I would be shocked if he took a RT at 8.

I think Ireland wants a pass rusher, and rightfully so. Hopefully he has BPA on his mind which leaves guys like Claiborne, Richardson and Blackmon on the table if available when we pick, in addition to the pass rushers, OLinemen and whatever more "needy" picks that he may be considering.

There will be plenty of capable RT's falling past the first round. Datko/Sanders out of Florida St, Osemele out of Iowa State, even Nate Potter out of Boise (though more of a LT by design) could be had between rounds 2 and 3 and could make a push for the starting job in camp.

i think if we get manning at QB ireland is getting a RT in the first to protect manning. This draft is pretty heavy on the DE and DE/OLB area and getting one in the second round might be a better choice. If Flynn is QB then maybe we get like coples or upshaw in the first. But if we do get manning i think a RT is pretty much the way things will go so prepare yourself.

Cordy Glenn is a guy I am starting to like. He could be our pick at 41 should he not climb boards. He is the big guy I believe they said ran under a 5.0 in the forty. yikes.

I think we are looking at pass rusher and RT in first two rounds with possibility of Safety/TE.

If we sign Peyton (god willing) then I'd rather draft him a playmaker in the first round like Kendall Wright or Michael Floyd and wait until the 2nd or 3rd to draft a lineman. We dont really NEED a lineman that badly we just need to re tool our line
Jerry played real well at RT last year and Carey is only 31 and can still hang at RG.

LT: Long LG: Incognito C: Pouncey RG: Carey RT: Jerry is not a bad line. We need another playmaker in the passing game worse.

With Reggie at RB, the better the line, the less he has to stay in to block. I think Reiff/Martin would be quality picks. My only dilemma would be, is a RT worth a #8 pick?

Im positive Manning/Flynn will be signed. Our biggest weakness on offense last year, was the right side of line, together with the lack of a genuine deep threat at WR. We drafted Gates last year and not many WR start year 1.

IMO Ireland will resign one of Solai/Langford. We want the 4-3/3-4 felx option, so larger LDE would be required. IMO he will go with Langford, leaving a line of Wake-Starks-Langford-Odrick, filling the need at DE. That leaves RT the only major void.

One more point. I never dais Odrick was a NT. He was drafted as there was at the time a need at Nose. This was done with the notion that Starks would slide over and play the nose position.

sorry KDAWG, but as much as i would LOVE blackmon in a finz uni, he isnt getting anywhere near the dolphins at #8.

if the rams cant get the deal they want to trade out, he IS the pic. if not, the vikes are dancing a jig in the war room cant believing their good fortune of him "falling".

Exactly. RT's are not impact players. I just don't believe you spend a top 10 pick on a RT unless you expect Jake Long to walk next season.
I would not draft a RT if Upshaw or Ingram are on the board. The team needs a couple of game changers to get to the elite level. There are decent RT's available in the 2-3 rds. It won't be difficult to upgrade Colombo. Moreover, good passrushers are much harder to find than RT's

I think Peyton is the first target, and if so I think a rookie QB will be drafted......perhaps as high as the #8 pick. Even if we get Manning we need a QB of the future and a Manning/Tannehill combo would be nice for the present and the future. We don't have to use a top ten pick on an O-lineman and probably shouldn't.

I think RG3 will end up in Cleveland.

If Peyton can't go I think Flynn will be the next option, in which case I think the young QB will be a later pick.
