There may be some candidates to emerge....like this kid LEONARD HENRY...or even veteran DEDRIC WARD....but I think the days of BROCK MARION and CHRIS CHAMBERS days of retrurning kickoffs, in particular, are over.

The Dolphins really liked ALBERT JOHNSON last season...but he got injured early on....and now he is back to compete once again.

SAM SIMMONS is a guy the Dolphins brought in before the draft---and he impressed KEITH ARMSTRONG with his knowledge of special teams play...the what to do side of it. This is a very mature, married, good-character type of guy who can play the slot WR position, and play on both sides of the special teams. He is a guy that at the very least---you are looking at him on the practice squad.

DEDRIC WARD has told the team that he wants to return punts---but I really looks like the coaches want one of the younger guys to do this. I think he is in the mix....but not the top candidate at all.

I absolutely see LEONARD HENRY tried out as a kick returner....I don't see how he can make the active roster and if he impresses...practice squad.

I think the Dolphins have pretty much brought the retrurn game...to the forefront this season. They do not want to risk important people such as CHAMBERS and MARION anymore....they want somebody to really emerge and get the job done. JEFF OGDEN is hanging on......literally by a thread, right now....as the team has brought his job up.....with the old....WE ARE NOW ACCEPTING APPLICATIONS...slogan.

Personally....I am looking at either ALBERT JOHNSON or this new kid....SIMMONS....to unseat OGDEN...once and for all.

that's good news. I would like to see Ward returning punts if he is not a starting WR unless Johnson or Simmons really impresses.

Albert Johnson was really on track last year. He was the CFL's #1 WR in 2000. He's Dedric Ward's size, but man can that guy FLY!! Hopefully he'll pull a James McKnight and not lose one bit of his speed or quicks. McKnight's recovery was simply amazing.

Good to hear such a battle is heating up. Hopefully someone stellar will emerge from this thing and we can have a Pro Bowl calibre player at both return positions, whoever that might be. This will be one of the better battles in the pre-season.

I'd like to see a Johnson/Minor combo on Kickoffs/punt returns. 2 young speedsters who will hopefully hang on to the ball :)

Hell yeah! Sounds like good comp at the return spots. I for one am not going to bad mouth Ogden for his less than stellar performance last year, but a change is needed. Whether it be a new return specialist or Ogden with a renewed enery, something has to change!

We signed Ogden to too much money. CUT HIM!
not until Johnson or Simmons prove they are better or until after 6/1 if a decent return guy comes available.
