That is what every D coordinator yelled on Saturday night. :foundout:

Well i was kinda of surprised when we pulled out the wildcat play during the Carolina game but after seeing it over and over i think it was a good thing.

One we didnt run anything new it was all old plays from last year to just show the league it wasnt a flash in the pan thing that it can be used in the NFL, In appropriate situations of course. And now every D coordinator will lose sleep the week leading up to our game taking extra time to attempt to get ready. :lol2:

I think with an offseason of making more plays out of the base wildcat and a bunch of new ones that involve pat white being on the field i think this thing will CONTINUE be a great weapon for us to pull out during a game to get us big plays.

And i dont think that that people can use the Raven style in busting it cause with White and possibly Ginn(?) throwing passes along with that end around to Penny all of the new wrinkles we have more than likely added will make it alot harder to defend. :hi5:

GO FINS......GO WILDCAT

Did the Panthers really even try to make the necessary adjustments to stop it?

Have they even installed their defensive wildcat counter scheme yet?

I don't know - without knowing the answers to those questions it's hard to get TOO excited about its success. But it was great to see it successful again- really sent a message to the league.

the fact that a team would need a "defensive wildcat counter scheme" is exactly how the wildcat helps us... thats taking away from base defense work and already putting us ahead in the matchup department

No they didnt make adjustments and no they didnt have a scheme but arsenal is right the fact that teams have to devote so much time to create a scheme to stop it...and it better be a scheme to be adjustable on the fly cause we could have a dozen formations out of it....we win cause they have to devote more time to it and take time away from base study.

i think we need to get excited cause it completely faked out everyone.....it think alot of people had the reaction of...oh great it still works

Can't wait to see the possibilities once we get runnin on all cylinders in the regular season.

My guess is they are going to go from the 4 or 5 plays they had for the wildcat to about 15 plays from it with Pat White on the field.

There's a lot you can do with it when you have a smart athletic player like White on the field who can throw the ball with accuracy and velocity. And can throw well on the run.

This is a VERY SUGGESTIVE thread. Glad you cleared/cleaned it up. Sounded like a viagra commercial. LOL

the Panthers might have a defensive package to stop the WildCat up their sleeves, but didn't want to give it away during pre-season. just a thought

They might but if they do i doubt i can stop all the new plays and formations we have come up with now that we have all this personnel. Many teams are probably somewhat prepared to stop last years wildcat but we are a step ahead with a playmaker like Pat White that can run it.

we don't know that. other teams might have taken what the Ravens did to another level and attack the WildCat the way we've never seen it. i guess we'll find out.

What I'd like to know is if Ronnie is running the wildcat per se, does he have total autonomy? Is the play designed from the beginning to go where it goes, or does he make a pre-snap, or even last second read? The only reason I'm curious is because in the Carolina game it seemed like we would have had a huge gain with Cobbs (maybe even a touchdown) if he gave it to him on the end around.

It was an error on Cobbs part, you saw RB telling him that he had the outside lane wide open.

Last year in several interviews it was mentioned that RB has decision power on where the WC play will run depending on the speciifc formation.

It was mentioned how he is so bright and can read defenses and its one of the main reasons why it was working.

I am sure though that the option flea flicker back to CP and certain other plays are predecided. it was not a coincidense that Ricky took the handoff to the Right side prior to our CP pass play.

I watched the game on a North Carolina station. It was funny how those hacks were bragging about stopping the WildCat the series before we hit them with the long pass saying how the D coordinator was high fiving guys as they came off the field after they made us punt. Then bam,we hit them hard.......even though they knew it was coming they couldn't stop it. Watch our for WC 09 its gonna be exciting.....
