less than a month ago we were stacked at corner and thin at running back now were loaded at rb and thin at corner, dont you just love the ups and downs of the NFL! this will not be the last injury we have this year you can bank on that one!

Hah, nice observation. Tis a fickle thing.

How exactly are we thin at Cornerback??

EDIT: Just saw the Poole threads. :(

Edwards is not a #2 or #1
Daniels is a rookie
Howard, just a few weeks ago was subject to losing his job if he didn't take a pay cut do to lack of performance.
Madison is very much on the decline.

So, I would say that we are pretty thin at CB.

That doesn't mean they won't be great it's just

#1-Madison
#2-Poole
#3- Howard
#4- Edwards
#5- Daniels

That is alot more comforting then
#1- Madison
#2- Howard
#3- Edwards
#4- Daniels
#5-Bigby

While it may look like we are loaded at running back is there anybody seriously any good there. We will more probably cut the number of backs we keep by half. And as for corners I think we will find a replacement. I mean Saban did draft defense didn't he?

Ok that arguement can go out the window because we do not know how many will actually be good enough to make the team.

ok time to panic guys. because preseason hasn't started yet and we are screwed at corner.:roflmao:

I dont think this is anything to panic about considering he wasnt even a guaranteed starter and we have 2 other players that can step up and do a decent job. Get worried a bit of something happens to madison because then i believe we will be thin at CB. :D

marinotoclayton, that is a great picture of danny... he owned that QB challenge a couple years in a row... i remember him needing a bulls-eye on the long throw to win the thing, ... and ummm... he nailed it...

as for the RB question, in addition to brown, I still believe that gordon can start and be an average to above average rb in this league with 20-25 carries a game. Morris proved last year that he's average. Harris has the skill set to be better than average and Minor makes a good 3rd down back. Brown does have the ability to be great though..so yes, i do believe we have depth there.

As for cb, we're not in trouble yet. YET. I'm certainly not jumping on the "sign ty law" bandwagon.....yet.:( We do have depth, just not very much now that poole is hurt...and we don't know the severity of his injury at this time, we've only heard the worst case scenerio so far. But as usual I have a bit of a suggestion. Trade David Bowens for a CB. It will not be anyone who'll make the probowl but it could be someone serviceable. Also Howard was a starter in Carolina before he was replaced mid season by a great performance by a rookie. He isn't great but with more emphasis placed on tackling and more zones thown in there he will be better than some think.

I'll look at some rosters and see if I can find a CB or 2 that bowens could bring in a trade...but I'll warn you...it won't be a star.

We lost 1 CB. Not exactly a huge blow

Will Poole is overated, we need to bring in a veteran.......perhaps Ty Law?

How is he overrated?? He was entering his second year.

Ty Law is still in a wheelchair with screws in his foot. Plus he wants Surtain money. I just don't see that happening.

Howard will start.

Actually he won it 2 yrs in a row. If I remember right. And one of them was one where he had to run and throw a bit. Which blew my mind since Danny was never a runner.

Howard was going to start anyway

yes... but, i said that... two years in a row... and yes, he won the scrambling competition because he fired a bullz-eye strike on the move at the end... have it on tape, i believe... '92 i think

I think that was a distinct possibility. However, the rumor was the Phins were asking him to take a pay cut. Plus, I think we might have had a little Buckley/Surtain circa 1999 going on (Poole replacing Howard midseason).

We'll never know.
