Tommy Tuberville yesterday said he isn't interested in the Miami job and won't leave Auburn (although this article doesn't make mention of it)

Now Butch Davis to the Cowboys after this year is the rumor... http://www.miami.com/mld/miamiherald/sports/15561363.htm

This might be a tough job to fill.

Well when your coach has a record that is second only to one other coach in the nation and he is still getting driven out of town? Not many people would want that kind of scrutiny.

Lets face it, UM plays a tougher schedule than it used to in the Big Eas(y)t. So it is not going to be easy to go undefeated every year. Thus being in the National Championship game is going to be more rare. Add that to an unrealistic expectation of the fan base, not a real enticing job.

I still think (IF UM fires Coker - I am not convinced they will) UM will still get a real good coach. Maybe not the first choice, but still a really good coach. IMO, one that is better than Coker. UM is still a storied program, pays a lot of $, in Miami, etc... still a lot of positives, but I can also see a lot of negatives too.

Why not Shannon?

We need new blood.

I'm not worried about filling the job. There are plenty of quality guys out there, Gene Chizik, Norm Chow, Gary Patterson, I could go on.

Chizik would fit well with the U, he would get yall back up to the rep Miami fans are used to I beleive

I Really don't understand how your schedule is so much harder now then when you where in the BigEast. Currently your toughest opponents in the ACC are BC and VT, both former BigEast schools. Your next toughest opponent is FS that you usually played anyways. That coupled with your current non-conference schedule I can hardly buy into the idea that your current schedule is tougher now then it was 4-5 years ago.

You last 2 years in the BigEast you had Florida and Florida St. as you nonconference games coupled with playing VT, BC, WVU, and Pitt.

In the ACC 2004 and 2006 you play Louisville as a nonconference game, 2005 i guess Colorado was your tough game.

Your nonconference schedule was tougher in the BigEast.

Teams you play then and now : Florida St., VT, and BC(actually every other year I believe)

Old teams : WVU, Pitt, Syracuse, Rutgers
New teams : GT, Virginia, UNC, Duke. (Wake Forest, Maryland, NC State Clemson : about every other year)

In the BigEast you had 6 Conference games(5 nonconference), In the ACC you have 8(4 non conference).

If you just take the ACC teams you play every year then you really think?
GT, Virginia, UNC, and Duke
Is harder then-
WVU, Pitt, Syracuse, Rutgers
???

Since you play Florida St every year, the Atlantic division teams you play don't even make up for the tougher nonconference schedule you had in the BigEast.

Get over thinking the ACC is a powerhouse football conference that Miami has no chance to dominate like it did the BigEast. Reality is Miami had much better teams '93-'03 then they have the past few years. I really doubt Miami would be in any different position if they were still in the BigEast. Find something else to blame it on. They probably would have a worse record playing in the BigEast this year.

Last note Miami has 2 more ranked opponents on their schedule..... VT and BC. I think they are former BigEast schools that you would have had to play if they didn't jump conferences. I think your premise is flawed. It isn't your competition is so much harder in the ACC. Miami is just not the same team they use to be.

He started off something like 24-0 and is like 25-11 since, 25-11 is terrible for a Miami coach

Sure we played in the Big East but we still had big names and could beat anyone from any conference in the country.

Hopefully the confusion causes some of the recruits to rethink going to Miami :)

A lot more kids will go to Miami once Coker is gone, trust me, kids here dont want to go to Miami more because of what he has done to this program, now its just like 'Yeah Ive grown up and loved Miami but there is better opportunity somewhere else' Ive heard it from peoples mouths living here, that needs to change

Most of those recruits won't be going to Notre Dame if they rethink. They will more than Likely go to either Florida or Florida State. Not hatting on Notre Dame just saying thats just who Miami battle for alot of there talent

No you can be a horrible coach and still recruit great players ( Ron Zook ). Coker just can't recruit plain and simple!

Probably true, but there are plenty of kids who have both ND and Miami in there top 5. Taking Miami off that list gives ND that much more of a chance.

yeah, for future years it will help them. But this year it wont because they dont know who the coach will be so the new staff will get a late start and miss out on some people who commit early
