Here are some thoughts I unfortunately witnessed while getting scorched by the sun at Ray Jay. I saw Travis Daniels getting owned and once again made look like a rookie. Why for the 2nd week in a row is he lined up against a veteran receiver in the red zone. I understand that Clayton is their #1 WR but in the red zone, you have to adjust and put a veteran like Madison against any veteran receiver. I said it from the beginning that losing Surtain was going to hurt us severely. Should have franchised him, Roth was a good pick but no where near the value of a Surtain. Secondly, THE PENALTIES!! Saban needs to grow a pair and lay down fines. Wind sprints may have worked out discipline with the college boys but taking a dent into the pockets of NFL players is the only way to grab ahold of their attention. Thirdly, we need to get ahold of a #1 receiver... Chambers is a solid #2 receiver but he's too inconsistent and seems to always choke when a gamebreaking play is on the line, ex: todays deep bomb dropped. Our o-line problem is self-explanatory but todays game was just painful to watch.

What do you guys all think??

C'mon, let's be fair to Daniels - yes, he's a rookie and makes some rookie mistakes, but he also consistently makes terrific plays on receivers. He's a good corner, he'll come up to speed.

Hey, don't ***** or we might get Howard back in the lineup. ;)

never meant it to be taken that daniels sucks. definitely has shined a rookie. All I'm saying in a situation in a red zone for the 2nd week in a row, a veteran should be lined up against a veteran.

I think you wouldn't say that to Saban if he was right in front of your face. That's what I think

I actually think it was the PLAYERS who decided to punish THEMSELVES with windsprints, that wasn't Saban's doing. And besides, they are PROFESSIONALS, 98% of them have been playing the game since Pop-Warner, they should be OVER those dumb penalties now. Once or twice a SEASON is one thing, but like once or twice a GAME, for each guy, is RIDICULOUS.

under corleys name hornball. and I would tell Saban that if he was in my face. The amount of penalties we have each game are ridiculous. Something else needs to be done other than wind sprints. WR and QB are definitely positions we need to go after in the upcoming draft

I don't know much about Daniels and the coverage, but I agree with the penalty commentary. Obviously letting the boys work it out on their own with sprints was a pleasant idea, but didn't work. Maybe Saban will intervene now though. Either way, I think he's the coach we need and will be fine, for all those wanting to dump on him because of the last 2 weeks.
Chambers unfortunately didn't look like a number 1 receiver to me today for the first time (I don't see many games on TV - first one this year actually was today). But then again, McMike didn't look like an upper echelon TE today either. Ronnie and RW didn't look like stud BAcks very often as well. I think a lot of that was the great Tampa defense. Look, they are playing well, not just against us so we got beat period. Yes we made mistakes again, but a good team will make you make mistakes nad anyone saying we can't let that happen has never raelly played competitive sports. We could play them again, and show up big and make them look bad. It just happens. Momentum, game planning being at home etc. It all adds up to a wild combination of possibilities tha tyou can look very good or bad any given Sunday. Your chances of being the good team are better when you are in fact loaded wit hatlent and have guys that are used to the system and each other. We don't have tha tyet which leads to inconsustency. Patience everyone. This hurts now, but we are on the right track, I'm sure.
One ting I notice is nothing comes easy for us on offense. Almost every pass seems to be off target. I've not seen Gus play much in the past but I don't think his arm can be that bad and remain in the league for so long. Some of it must be chemistry and timing to be worked out as the season goes on. Some is teh pressure like the TB defense brought today. I hope that's it anyway.

Hey guys, we got beat because we got beat. Despite a few penalties, and all the rest, the Fins were beat on the line of scrimmage, on both sides of the ball, period. No excuses, no fingerpointing, no nothing, they had a bad game overall :fire: It happens, and will again this year, but these days will become less and less as the new system takes hold. The Fins will play tough every week, but lets face it, it will take time to become what we all all want, a Champion.

Rome wasn't built overnight, so it will take Saban a few years to build this team. Even Belichick struggled his first year with the Patriots. Saban needs another free agency and draft at least. Maybe two more offseasons. This team isn't very good right now, thats the bottom line.

The penalties are ridiculous. Soemthing needs to be done. It's absolutely crazy.

Daniels does get beat, but he's playing ok for a rookie 4th round pick. We couldn't afford pat and we're switching to a scheme that shouldn't require "superstar" corners like our former all man to man one where you needed 2 great cb's. I think we'll add someone next year, plus we get poole back and daniels will have a year under his belt. For now, he needs to play for the experience and because he's the best we've got right now.

WHolly disagree on the long pass to chambers. He had his man beaten easily and was still seperating. THe pass was only very slightly overthrown, but it had no arc and his only shot was a last second lunge. He got his fingertips on it, but I think that's as close as he could get.
