OJ McDuffie's Back...

What the hell? Did they re do his contract, and then release him to save even more money?

I hope they didn't screw over Duff, I would be PISSED off. He was and still is one of my favorite players.

There must be some legitimacy to the OJ restructuring his deal since it was reported by the Herald but something must have gone awry since last night/this morning. I'm with 87 on this; if they screwed OJ then I'd be a little PO'd. He did a lot for this team and screwed by JJ when he was here so it seems to me that the team owes him one. :fire:

Looks like the OJ situation...

...has a little more to it.

His contract required that he state his was fit to play, but his injury remains a problem and he can't guarantee his fitness (he also plans to sue the club and it's medical staff).

It's a sad parting of the ways, but it doesn't look like it can be resolved.

It looks to me like the contract that was offered to OJ was like a settlement and he decided not to take it. He would have had to admit that he COULD play now or in the future and that would have hurt his lawsuit against the team in which he is probably going to claim that he is disabled. Did any body know that he filed an intent to sue back in Jan.?
This could get messy, but at this point I'm with the Dolphins. they are, and have been, willing to keep paying OJ even though they know he probably won't be able to play again. It will hurt his case if he goes to court saying he is unable earn a living because of this injury and it comes up that he turned down a multi million dollar contract and possible coaching position with the team.

The Fins & OJ agreed on a restructured contract Wednesday night. Then after OJ's lawyer drew up the contract & the Fins looked at, they noticed that they added something in there. Something the Fins didnt like & they had to cut him.

Damn...he was one of my favorite players too. He's one of the last players from the Marino era. ( I know, let it go.. ) Still, he was a great player on and off the field and I hope he gets his name on the stadium somewhere or something. Good luck O.J.

Wanny said the top two players to resign are Brock & OJ. So I think OJ will be back. Hopefully he can play this year, because we really need that 3rd down possession receiver. Something OG is not. Personally, if the injury permits, I'd like to see the OJ & CC start, with McKnight being the 3rd receiver, & OG being the redzone specialist.

Yeah. I would also like a ton of 3 WR sets, with Chambers, Gadsden, and McDuffie. And those 3 WRs can switch around on 2 WR sets, keeping the defense off balance and giving the players a little bit of rest during the game. We would have 5 good WR on the team. Ward would return punts and kicks.

I do not think OJ and OG s/b on the field at the same time except maybe in a 4 WR set. They are both slow / great possession receivers and usually you only want 1 of that type at a time, i.e. like Howard Twilley 20 years ago or Ricky Proehl today.

I also have great doubts about OJ's ability to play at a NFL level again.

I wouldn't call OG a great possession receiver. That was one of the reasons our O sucked this year. We didn't have that go to possession receiver on third down.

There is not a good chance of that happening, b/c there is a good chance OJ may never play again.
