What Matt Ryan has over John Beck??? I see quite a few people on the Draft Matt Ryan bandwagon, but I just do not see where Ryan is better or even as good as Beck. Beck has a stronger arm, is just as accurate (if not more so), Beck has a GREAT work ethic, is very dedicated, and very tough, I think Beck is even more Mobile. Now Matt Ryan is..... Taller!!! IDK, maybe I'm seriously missing something here, but What does Matt Ryan have over Beck especially to justify taking him with the #1 overall pick and paying him a TON of money????
 
Nah, I agree, I want to give beck a shot. No Quarterback is a give me in the draft. You just never know who you are really getting. I have yet to see something eyepopping that has blown me away about Matt Ryan, I've seen the stats posted on defenses, how well they did throwing, highlights, yaddah yaddah yaddah.

My answer is Nothing.
 
I still think that john beck in the second was a a heck of a pick . i also dont see anything ryan has over beck . maybe that winning drive some people talk about . but other than that nothing . i am pretty sure bill wont pick ryan in the first it is locked it is one of the longs .
 
knowbody knows until they both prove themselves. why waste your time?
 
I don't think we should take Ryan. I think the risk with the money is too big. I'm afraid of the Alex Smith mistake and it can cripple you if you are wrong on a QB. I do however want a QB that has poise in the pocket and does not get rattled. I think that is the most important thing as a QB. I am not saying Beck does not have that. I am a fan of his and met the guy and he is a great guy. But, I am also not sure based on the evidence that he has that. However, with the line and weapons that we had last year it was not a good time to evaluate him either. I wish he would have had Brown and Chambers to evaluate him better. I would not be opposed to taking a QB in round 2. I like Flacco and his raw talent. With the #1 pick I want either Chris Long or Vernon Gholston. I know we need o-line help also. And with this scenario we may lose out on that. I love JT, but think we need to get value for him now. I would get a 2 & 4 for him. I would then use the #2 from JT and the Chargers to move into bottom of round 1 for best available o-line.

My perfect scenario

#1A. C. Long or Gholston
#1B. Best Available o-line- C. Williams, B. Albert.
2. Joe Flacco
3. Best Available Corner - A. Cason
4A. Best Available WR
4B. Best Available TE
5. LB
 
Yeah i hear all about Ryan's intangibles his winning ways his leadership well until he has an NFL defense trying to kill him on a weekly basis lets not entitle him. I think he will be a very solid NFL Qb just not for us. WE have Beck who has shown extreme dedication to improving himself and fitting the new system and McCown is there to be a vet leader so QB though we need to get one more person isnt the most glaring need so it should not be addressed in the first 2 rounds. 3rd or 4th with a Henne or a Angie should be a good pickup but the first 2 rounds should be Defense prolly OLB/DE (C Long, Gholston, Groves) or some one like that. O Line (J Long, Nicks, Albert) or DB (flowers, rogers-cromartie, or whoever) those are our biggest need. But a QB we are fine for now Rome wasnt built in a day and Matt Ryan wont make us awesome in one season if anything he sets us back another 2 season for him to get acclimated to the NFL so will he be good prolly but he wont be a Dolphin.
 
Ryan wasn't put in to start in the worst situation imaginable last year and didn't stink up the place. At least that's what the Ryan fans will argue. That's the only argument i've really heard in favor of him.

I agree, I think Beck was and is the more well-rounded QB as far as physical tools are concerned.
 
Eveyone likes to listen to these so call draft guru.. They are waste of time to me if you collect draft magazines like i do just go back a couple of years none of the mock drafts are even close..Just look at all the stars in the NFL today most of them were not first round picks..The Matt Ryan badwagon is just due to draft guru HYPE!!!!!
 
Had we taken Quinn last yr we wouldn't be having these conversations! Don't get me wrong, Ginn is a beast but....
I still think we can get a solid QB at 2a or 2b, we need an O-line, unless we trade JT and pick something up, then DL is the obvious choice...sorry to state the obvious!
Last yr was hardly a fair shake for Beck, we must have drafted him for a reason, lets see how it plays out...

 
I'm tired of comparing all these college numbers between Beck / Ryan. When heading into the future, those numbers are completely meaningless. The only truth / fact is that neither one of them has done squat in the NFL....

IN TUNA WE TRUST!!!!!!

You know what your so right. If we picked Quinn no one would even be thinking Ryan.... thats the past and we took beck


I honestly have to say and if most people take of the there fin hat realize that beck is not gonna be our franchice qb.... so a qb in the second round is welcomed....this year are true test to see weather beck and ginn stay here .....ginn yes but is over paid for what he does up to this date and honestly will never live up to the #9 overall pick

Not a fair comment at this stage of his career.

You don't know how Ginn will pan out.
