I am just as pissed as the rest of you guys but I have stewed over the past 3 weeks (25 years) as much as I can and I am looking forward to seeing if Henne is our guy of the future. As a Michigan fan, I have watched him in the past and was estatic to see him in a phins uniform. Jake Long was just the icing on the cake. I kind of wished we had picked up Manningham or Mike Hart but I digress...

Anyway, the past is just that...in the past. We ALL know the general reasons why our franchise has been losing for the past 20+ years. Sure we were graced by the best qb to ever lace up and watching clayton and duper make spectacular catches was fun but that is way in the past..

So where do we go from here. Well Sparano is the head coach and regradless of those that think he should be fired, that is what we have now. Same goes for Henning and Pasqualoni. While we are not out of the playoff hunt, it is going to take a huge maturation of Henne and quickly for us to even utter the word playoffs.

IMO, it is time to set your Tivo's and break down film of each game. Take a good look at guys like hartline and Henne as well as the continued emergence of langford and merling. I will be also taking a close look at smith and davis. This is what the coaching staff will be doing as well. I think that if the "L's" keep coming the rest of the season will be nothing but a huge evaluation session, more than it is now.

So, lets try to have some kind of positive spin on this and see what happens. Maybe the injury to pennington will result in the next Kurt Warner or Tom Brady story. Who knows. It isn't going to be an easy season but if you understand that we aren't a playoff caliber team, then it is somewhat easier. Maybe we can be the team that puts a hurting on the Jets or pats when it really matters if they are going to be in the playoff hunt.

Time to make lemonade out of the lemons.....

No. I think I'll cry in my beer and be angry like most here.

I hate to say it but the injury to Pennington has given me a reason to be excited about the rest of the season. With Pennington we weren't going to win a Super Bowl and the offense almost puts you to sleep. With Henne playing he either gives us a spark and something to look forward to next year or he flounders thus giving us a good shot at Bradford/McCoy (which we better fn take if given the chance)

I think you are right. Henne is going to get 13 starts(barring an injury) and will be able to show this front office what he has and if he is indeed the future of this team. If he succeeds, and by succeeding I mean a solid starter, he doesn't have to be a Pro Bowler out of the gate. If he falls flat, that likely means we will have a top 5 pick and yes you REALLY would have to consider taking a player like McCoy or Bradford.

Well, while I think we are weak at LB, NT and FS/SS, it will be fun (maybe) to watch the maturation of the players like Merling, Langford, Smith and Davis, of whom should be the players that are going to be the focal points on the defense 3 years from now.

On the offense, I will watch Long, Bess, Camarillo and especially Henne and continue to see Donald Thomas progress.

These are the guys that I am going to watch carefully to see if they are indeed the "answer" (besides long) or if we need to focus on a replacement in the offseason or through the draft. I am not 100% sold on any of the linebackers, porter included and JT. Bell and Wilson are fodder IMO and will eventually be replaced, as will stonehands will allen.

Just trying again to work with what we have....

As of right now I'm not sold on McCoy. I have to see more through out the season I guess. But being in BIG 12 Country, I've seen my share of Texas games, and while he does the job for their system, just don't see it translating to the NFL. Bradford on the other hand, have to wait and see about that shoulder. Last thing MIA needs is a guy with shoulder problems.

Yeah but really how bad would the regime look if indeed we decided to take McCoy or Bradford, considering how much they hinted to the fact that Henne is their guy and actually he IS their guy...they drafted him.

I mean what does Henne have to do to solidify the starting job next season. We all pretty much know that the growing pains with this schedule are going to come hard and often. I am not 100% sure that you can judge Henne this season alone given he has no real weapons to work with besides the runningbacks and a above average decent possession receivers. I am more excited to see IF henne can bring out the supposed real ginn.

So there are some things to be excited about. However if Henne fails, IMO that sets us back a few years. Remember White was picked to be a qb as well. Drafting Mccoy/Bradford would mean that they don't trust White either and really makes his pick a waste but then again we had Henne anyway so who knows...

Where at in the midwest? I'm from Oklahoma so I watch a lot of Big 12 games. I'm not a Sooner or Cowboy fan, I root for both but I mostly watch for entertainment purposes. I'd prefer Bradford over McCoy, I feel as though he's the real deal. He's got the measurements you look for and his pocket presence and accuracy are 2nd to none imo. As for his injury, I dont believe it to be that serious, last I heard he's trying to get clearance to play in the Miami game.

I used to live in Lawrence back in the mid 90's. Got family there too, a cousin whose a cop. That town has grown by like leaps and bounds since I was there. Beautiful town though...to bad those KU kids can't keep their ego's in check from the Football and BBall teams.
