Who do you think we take #1 overall? and you cant choose to trade down.

is it....
Glenn Dorsey
Chris Long
Darren McFadden
Or
Jake Long

I think it is down to dorsey and chris long. i think if we go with a 4-3 it will be dorsey but if we go with a 3-4 you cant pass up on Chris long cuz dorsey isnt really the ideal size of nose tackle and there is good NT in this draft

The Offensive Tackle position is deep this year so very good prospects will be available in the 2nd and maybe 3rd. I think you can scratch Jake off your board. McFadden? How many decades since a RB was drafted with the 1st overall? Scratch him. Dorsey and C LOng make sense but only if Parcells and company feel Dorsey and C Long can play 3-4 and excel at it. Matt Ryan is a possibility unless they fall in love with Flacco or Henne. I wouldnt rule out Gholston just yet either

I would take McFadden, then I would get crucified. I would consider taking Jake Long because he would be a 10-15 year beast at RT and let us dump Shelton and save the money or move him to guard. But if I took Jake Long I'd be disposed of in a worse way than Rasputin.

Jake Long is rated so high for a reason, because he's a heck of a football player and he beats down on people, moves the pile. What if Joe Thomas came out this year, who do you take? And yes I knowthe difference between RT and LT. They're still both tackles.

Dorsey is a heck of a player, maybe Howie Long's kid is the way to go, but I haven't seen him play. If McFadden is as good, nearly as good, or better (probably not) than Adrian Peterson then I take him and don't look back. It's not Jake Long's fault that Robert Gallery flopped- I think that the best reason to not take Jake Long is that really good tackles like Cherilius, Baker, Otah, and that guy from Kansas might be there in the 2nd round, Nicks from Nebraska, too.

If I had to bet on one guy (QB) that Parcells was targeting it would be Henne.

I'm good with either Chris Long or Dorsey, only if we can not trade down.

My first thought was McFadden, but the Tuna doesn't believe in drafting RBs high (case in point is Cadillac Williams - his injury this past year might be career ending). Next I jumped on the Dorsey bandwagon, but while he might be the best player out there, he's not a good fit for our 3-4 defense. Jake Long got a lot of thought, but if he's not a stud LT you can't take a stud RT with the #1 pick. This leaves Chris Long who will fit either a 3-4 or 4-3 defense and help our pass rush.

So by process of elimination, Miami selects Chris Long.

I agree with your process of elimination theory and the Chris Long pick. While I would be happy with Chris Long and believe he can be successful. When I think of the ideal year to have the first overall pick is when a stud QB is there for the taking. Carson Palmer, Peyton Manning, Elway, Eli Manning, ect.
Some people will argue that theres always a chance a QB turns out like David Carr, but more often than not it ends up working out just fine. We need a QB in order to be successful.

With that being said, I hope we can some how find a trade partner and get out of the number 1 slot.
