Isn't anyone else nervous that we didn't give him his payday? Does that mean we could be using him as leverage for more draft picks or acquiring a player like Sherman??

Isn't his contract UP after this year? Why would we let it get to this point? Why would we pay Stills but not pay Landry?

After seeing us sell away 2 of this years picks for Carroo (and hearing positive things about him taking the next step this year...) and knowing that our top 3 are going to limit his development and Mighty Mouse's too....

Is it just me, or are we about to give up our best ****ing player on offense and in the locker room???

I sense something is wrong.

Maybe he wants more money then a slot should be paid.

He's under contract for another year it will get done no need to rush.

You make it sound like a one way decision. His salary expectation is not reasonable.

Landry is the face of the franchise and our biggest draw. People come to see the Dolphins expecting to see Landry do something exciting. Ross, as the owner of the team, would have to sign off on moving Landry and he absolutely will not. Landry has an excellent shot of playing for Miami his entire career. He's going nowhere. Relax.

He will get his money, I'm not worried.

And if he doesn't get his money here, it won't be because we lowballed him. He will be offered more than what's fair to get extended. Somebody I guarantee, will offer him more than us if this thing plays out to free agency.

more like the front office is in draft mode and he will be taken care of after the draft, I am pretty sure they let landry"s people know that

I think another factor is that other contracts may need to either come off the books or be renegotiated - people like Byron Maxwell ($10 million hit in 2018 with no cap penalty), Mike Pouncey ($9m hit with $2m penalty), and Julius Thomas ($6m hit with no penalty, if he busts completely this year).

I'm a huge fan of Landry and have gone on record stating he's a very good WR (not slot receiver). He needs to be treated and compensated as a pro bowl WR PERIOD.
However, if his contract demands are ridiculous, then it would not surprise me to see them swing a trade for him. He's very well regarded around the league and is young and still on the last yr of his rookie deal. Therefore, he has high trade value.
I still recall Jimmy Johnson many yrs ago, the year after he traded away Herschel Walker. He was asked in the days leading up to the draft, if he had any more trade chips. He smiled and said, yes, 45.
Meaning that ANY player on his roster was a trading chip, including Aikman, assuming the price was right.
For example, if the Giants offered the Phins their no 1 pick for Landry, does anyone think the FO wouldn't give it some serious thought?
From a Giants perspective, it would help team chemistry reuniting Landry with OBJ and complete their WR corp (they also have Marshall).
Phins could get a top G (like Lamp) and one of the top DE/LB. I personally, would give it some heavy thought.

would have to get a lot more than a 1 for landry, guys with his production and intangibles don't come around very often, not that i think trading landry is a good idea, if anything try and trade caroo but not landry.

You are absolutely right in your argument here IMO. Living in the NY metro area I don't think I could handle a double-ass-clown show w those two making headlines for acting immature during games. It's hard enough to watch Jarvis' post-whistle idiocies and having to hear about OBJ's. Imagine them egging each other on in the same uniform? Coaching nightmare.

I am a huge fan of Landry, but he is not the face of the Franchise. Gase is the face of this new Franchise with Tannehill, Suh, Wake, and Landry being the shared faces of the team. Our front office and Gase will have to have a serious review of the monies allocated to the wide receiver group. Not only is Landry looking for a payday so will Parker soon after that. Not sure we can pay Stills, Landry and Parker.

Way too early to be worried about this. It's not like we don't have 5 months until opening day and then another 6 months before the end of the league year. Let's not hit the panic button just yet.

I'm not stating what fair compensation would/should be. That would be determined by the 2 sides involved. I'm simply pointing out that this is a business and every player has a price and it wouldn't shock me on draft day if there is a player the Phins are targeting that could be had by trading Landry.
I would hate to see him go, but as some have pointed out, when Parker's rookie deal is up, there will be some hard financial decisions to be made with regard to the WR position. Landry is at max trade value due to his low salary and coming off 2 very productive seasons.
Nothing in professional sports surprises me anymore.
