......that Texas will get "destroyed" etc etc by USC in the rose bowl!?!?

hope a&m destroys them. if not, then colorado. if not, then texas is goin to get mauled by USC in the rose bowl

OK, YES, USC is a good team with a high power offense, but you, and everyone else who thinks Texas would get MAULED by them are fooling yourselves. I'm not saying its a garunteed win for Texas, or for USC, but it most certainly will not be a blowout by USC, if you believe that then you haven't watched football or know nothing about it. USC has had close calls this year against worse teams than Texas, most recently FRESNO STATE. Yea, USC has a super offense, but they have SH*T defense. HOW can you think USC will maul Texas when Texas has a top ranked defense AND a top ranked offense.

Here's an Offensive Ranking comparison of the two:

Scoring:
Texas - 1st
USC - 2nd

Yards Per Game:
USC - 1st
Texas - 2nd

Passing Yds:
USC - 5th
Texas - 35th

Rushing Yds:
Texas - 2nd
USC - 6th

1st Downs/game:
USC - 1st
Texas - 11th

3rd Down Conversions:
USC - 1st
Texas - 5th

4th Down Conversions:
Texas - 18th
USC - 25th

As you can see the offenses, except for Passing Yards, are pretty even, Texas is ranked higher in 3, USC in 4.

Now Defensive Comparison:

Points Per Game Avg:
Texas - 5th
USC - 31st

Rushing Yards:
Texas - 21st
USC - 24th

Rushing Yards Per Attempt:
Texas - 26th
USC - 29th

Passing Yards:
Texas - 6th
USC - 79th

Passing Yards Per Attempt:
Texas - 2nd
USC - 58th

Total Yards:
Texas - 6th
USC - 44th

Yards Per Play:
Texas - 4th
USC - 52nd

Now for the defenses they most certainly are not even CLOSE to even (aside from rushing defense). How can you think that a team with a comparable offense to USC and a MUCH much better defense would get blown out by USC? It obviously isn't going to be a defensive struggle since USC doesn't HAVE a good defense, so it will probably try to be a shootout, and I'm sorry, but in a shootout between the two Texas will win, not because they have a more powerful offense (they don't, USC does) but because their DEFENSE will be able to come up with more stops than USC's. Both are completely capable of scoring, and scoring big, only one, Texas, is capable of STOPPING the other team from scoring big. It's one thing to WANT USC to win, or even THINK they will win, again, I'm not saying they won't, but to say USC will "maul" Texas is ridiculous.

level of oppenent?

put Texas in the ACC. they wouldnt have close to those numbers, or be undefeated even.

I hope Texas wins, but I dont think they've been tested yet so Im not sure they have it in them. It's easy to run up the score and yardage against La Lafayette, Kansas and Baylor. The 1 really good team they played was Ohio St and you saw how many pts they put up on them.

Now go back and look at the opponents both teams have played...and what kind of offense and defensive rankings those teams have.

because USC comes up big in the championship game. USC had some close calls last year, but that didn't really matter much in the orange bowl. it'll be a blowout

I know USC has had the harder schedule, but everyone makes it out like USC has played all top 25 teams and had no trouble while Texas plays all crappy teams and struggled, and not the case. OK USC has had the tougher schedule, and maybe USC is the better team, but I don't get why people think Texas will get MURDERED by USC. Texas is a better team than Fresno State and Arizona state, yet USC almost lost to both of those teams. The fact still remains that Texas can score big too and Texas has a good defense, USC doesn't so while Texas may lose, I highly doubt it will be like the OU/USC game last year.

Youre crazy. Texas might just win

Because OU was I think ranked in the top 5-10 in those catogories last year too, yea it helped us alot

Ding ding ding. Level of competition. The only team worth anything that Texas played all year was Ohio State. Texas struggled getting past a horrible A&M team today.

It'll be a shootout capped off by Vince Young heroics in an OT Texas win. Actually thats just really the game I'm hoping to see more than a prediction.
