......that Texas will get "destroyed" etc etc by USC in the rose bowl!?!?
OK, YES, USC is a good team with a high power offense, but you, and everyone else who thinks Texas would get MAULED by them are fooling yourselves. I'm not saying its a garunteed win for Texas, or for USC, but it most certainly will not be a blowout by USC, if you believe that then you haven't watched football or know nothing about it. USC has had close calls this year against worse teams than Texas, most recently FRESNO STATE. Yea, USC has a super offense, but they have SH*T defense. HOW can you think USC will maul Texas when Texas has a top ranked defense AND a top ranked offense.
Here's an Offensive Ranking comparison of the two:
Scoring:
Texas - 1st
USC - 2nd
Yards Per Game:
USC - 1st
Texas - 2nd
Passing Yds:
USC - 5th
Texas - 35th
Rushing Yds:
Texas - 2nd
USC - 6th
1st Downs/game:
USC - 1st
Texas - 11th
3rd Down Conversions:
USC - 1st
Texas - 5th
4th Down Conversions:
Texas - 18th
USC - 25th
As you can see the offenses, except for Passing Yards, are pretty even, Texas is ranked higher in 3, USC in 4.
Now Defensive Comparison:
Points Per Game Avg:
Texas - 5th
USC - 31st
Rushing Yards:
Texas - 21st
USC - 24th
Rushing Yards Per Attempt:
Texas - 26th
USC - 29th
Passing Yards:
Texas - 6th
USC - 79th
Passing Yards Per Attempt:
Texas - 2nd
USC - 58th
Total Yards:
Texas - 6th
USC - 44th
Yards Per Play:
Texas - 4th
USC - 52nd
Now for the defenses they most certainly are not even CLOSE to even (aside from rushing defense). How can you think that a team with a comparable offense to USC and a MUCH much better defense would get blown out by USC? It obviously isn't going to be a defensive struggle since USC doesn't HAVE a good defense, so it will probably try to be a shootout, and I'm sorry, but in a shootout between the two Texas will win, not because they have a more powerful offense (they don't, USC does) but because their DEFENSE will be able to come up with more stops than USC's. Both are completely capable of scoring, and scoring big, only one, Texas, is capable of STOPPING the other team from scoring big. It's one thing to WANT USC to win, or even THINK they will win, again, I'm not saying they won't, but to say USC will "maul" Texas is ridiculous.
