I'm sick of all the slams on the Cutler signing, when it seemed 90% (me too) thought it a brilliant move at time- bringing in an experienced decent QB with positive results and understanding of Gase offense, without giving up a single draft pick and paying sub-market foran NFL starting QB.

Well, here's your chance to go ON RECORD, prior to season, with your beef about where Gase went wrong with this season:

(please just one or two concise (short) responses, and dont rehash the Cutler stuff).

I love the moves- no huge complaints but wish we had solid backup at Center.

We let defensive backs coach Lou Anarumo go, allegedly because of some personal clashes / tension between Gase and Anarumo following the elevation of Matt Burke to DC.

We lost a very good defensive backs coach (look at his track record of player development) and gained a DC who thinks the wide 9 in front of two strong safeties is a brilliant way to play defense.

If Adam Gase does get fired during or after this season (highly unlikely, IMO), it will be a direct result of his decision to hire a first time DC who has his head stuck up his own ass.

I actually think Gase did learn his lesson last year. If Ryan Tannehill gets injured, there is absolutely no ****ing way on planet Earth that the Miami Dolphins are making the playoffs. With this defense? With an OL that isn't dominant and whose strength is pass blocking?

Tannehill goes down, you tank for a higher draft pick. I know it sucks to think it, say it, DO IT, but it's the truth.

I don’t know how it’ll play out this year, but if we crap the bed it’s obvious where Gase went wrong. We jettisoned talented players in favor of “Gase guys” and renewed leadership. That’s all fine and dandy if you’re a good coach with a good scheme, and we better hope we have that in Gase

If the team fails it will likely be because of the defense, so I agree with the posts above about Burke. Especially since he was some LB guru and we stink at LB.

Otherwise it will be directly because of Gase's blind faith in TH. The QB who has been terrible on 3rd downs, red zone, and 4th quarter in his career, so far. Things can change and TH might develop some more. Hopefully that happens for everyone’s sake here at FH.

thanks for all responses. i hope no one reads this as a pessimistic outlook- just a thread to get it on record where your main disagreement lies, if you have one.

I know we're all hopeful and excited!

If it's a bad season without any injuries to key players, I doubt it'll be Gase's fault, unless there's just some kind of locker room mutiny. From what I can tell, and what at least one person that works in media has told me, he's very respected around the league.

Ultimately, the problem will prove to be personnel. Meaning a quarterback that's not good enough and/or not nearly enough real impact players in the right places: no one on defense that can consistently blow up the offense; no star receiver; no game breaking running back; no true ball hawk safety; no one who approaches being a shut down corner; an offensive line that doesn't consistently dominate; no tight end that strikes fear into the defense. I don't think the coaching can really change those things or not enough to make much of a difference.

He's treating his 3rd year as a HC as if it were his first: getting rid of personalities he doesn't like, keeping 4 QBs to try to develop them. The time for that was two years ago when the team would've had time to develop an identity and compensate for the lost talent, now we're left with a weakened roster and QBs that won't be developed if he's fired at the end of the season. It's not all his fault, of course, Tannenbum has played a big part in this story.

IF Gase doesn't get fired at the end of the year, maybe next season he will be able to reap the benefits of his decisions this year. He's actually a good coach but he hasn't had the benefit of a strong GM and that has hurt him bad.

Time will tell but I would have taken Maurice Hurst over Kalen Ballage. Only because he would likely play a lot sooner. This is the group I worry about the most.
