Everyone keeps saying ILB and DT are #1 Needs but IMO Defense is easier to play than offense. You can put a good rookie into NT (see big Vince wilfork) and just ask him to be double teamed and he is doing his job. At the same time everyone is saying we need defense people are also using the old receivers take a few years to grow, even though if you can get the right one the can help immediately.

so ask yourself, are we going to win the superbowl next year. the answer is no. We need at least this draft and the next to be where we can really compete (we will be needing a new RB soon too as once again Ronnie showed he is a good RB who cannot take the whole load)

So IMO if it takes a year or 2 to develop a rookie receiver (someone tell that to percy harvin) then take the best one this year and have him ready for the 2011 -2012 season. A top flight receiver makes henne better, it makes ginn better, and it makes all of our other possession receivers better. It also makes our running game better as defenses cant stack the box if we have a real threat (ginn has the speed but is not ever going to be a #1, hes too short and too soft but as a 2nd option down the field against 1 on 1 coverage he can be scary)

Just my opinion guys but we need a real #1 this year!!!

I dont care how you get it but get us a truely scary WR Mr. Bill

I couldnt agree more because the last linebacker we drafted was our all time great Eddie moore and what a great career he had . (he chuckles)

kidding around but I do agree and here is how i would hope we could upgrade.
use free agency to add a no /dt and f/a to adress the tightend and oline.

then Draft Dez Bryant ( I WOULD Dance naked on the freeway if we drafted him)

draft ILB Brandon Spikes in rd 2

draft Olb Eric Norwood in rd 3

draft RB keith Tosten in rd 4

draft cb Perrish Cox for depth and for return duties in rd 6a

draft TE Jimmy Graham in rd 6b

draft ot Tony Washington Abilene Christian in rd 7a
draft Olb Donald Booker in 7b

I am holding you to that!

Improving in the off season is a 4 prong assault;

1. Developing your young talent.

2. Re-signing or extending the play makers on your current roster.

3. Signing impact top tier Free Agents, to fill glaring needs at positions that take years to develop and draft picks have a low success rate.

4. Drafting players that will not only become starters, but have a ability to dominate at their position.

Last year I think our failures in free agency early really dictated how we had to draft. This year I hope we do a better job getting top tier free agents like Dansby, Wilfork, etc. Then draft around it, caution on Dez Braynt he will have been out of football for a very long time and this was the season he was suppose to dominate and grow beyond his drop problems.

That's the best line yet!!! Just ask him to be double teamed, lol!!!

So does the kid go to the opposing Oline and say "hey guys my coach wants me to be doubled teamed, can you help me out please"

There's more to football then being a big body and commanding a double team. You actually have to be a threat to collapse the pocket first off, second you have to prove that you can beat a one on one match up majority of the time. See P.Solai's struggles to become that player to see why plugging in some rookie will never be good enough.

A vet NT makes all that happen for you and then you can develope a young NT to eventually take over.

Otherwise I agree with you about ILB, we could get better play out of a rookie then Akin. I'd like to see a vet WR brought in and if McClain is gone at 12 we could still take Dez and have an incredible offense and still go ILB/SOLB in rounds 2-4.

We have enough stop gap guys that very few positions are safe. WE will take BPA, and we should. Whether that is Bryant, McClain, Thomas, Spiller-we should really go BPA. Unless he is like a 3-4 DE, than id be fine bypassing him.
