It appears this will be his farewell tour here. The guy is making 2.3 million, would never take a pay cut when asked, wouldnt practice on the dirt infield, and now he basically stinks. Thanks for the memories Olindo but they were a while ago. If he's on the team next year I will not believe it. Hes earned the nickname NightMare.:shakeno:

cut him now send a message sign Martin Gramatica for the rest of the year and get a young kicker in the off season. I can't stand watching this guy miss time after time.

note to colubumslarry, gramatica is 1000 times worst than mare.

I'd take anybody right now,it hurts to see 62 yarders to win games and 50 something on back to back highlights but we tend to keep missing(Jets,Packers)on our tieing field goals,or we make excuses(dirt, wind from the open tunnel)

hey opfinistic don't sell yourself short well call Nick and get you a try out even if you miss every kick you would only be twice as bad as mare.

This is a valid point. Mare has made 11 of 17 FGs this season (65%). That's that lowest percentage made of any kicker in the NFL this season. By comparison the Chicago kicker has made 18 out of 18.

I tried to hang myself on Sunday but I couldn't kick the chair out from under me!

Mare is what is wrong with NFL kickers. He was very good for a few years, became a primadonna, and wanted more than a kicker is worth (Other than Vinatieri). There are plenty of good kickers out there, and you won't have to pay them 2.3 mil. to miss game tying kicks. And, they probably won't have as big an ego.

Mare has skills, thats for sure. He is one of the best on-side kickers in the NFL, ever. He once was consistant and I used to think his confidence helped him.

As others have mentioned, his refusal to practice on dirt & rework his contract when he hasnt played to the standards he set when he first arrived here is just not barable for the team. If he continues on this path we should cut him after the season and look elsewhere. There just isnt any reason to worry about these issues when we can find ourselves an affordable consistant kicker.

whats more surprising is the contract...guess who made LESS than 200,000 last season...

Finally others see the light that Olindo Mare is the most overrated and over paid kicker in football. I have not liked the guy ever since he lost the game against the PATS a few years back. I am so sick of him missing it when it really counts. A tie for the Jets game, 2 times (in the dirt) against the PATS, and now against the Packers to keep us in the game. I know there are other problems on the fins but come on you got a make these kicks. Its heart breaking when our below average offense actually moves down the field for NO POINTS!!! We need to start a website CutMare.COM!!!!!
