Would this make you happy even if it ate up most of our cap to sign "playmakers"
 
Put Safford at right guard and rookie Billy Turner out of North Dakota State at right tackle and you might have something.

PS: Safford doesn't want to play RT but is willing to play OG.

Smith and O-line coach Benton does have a history together. Both were in Houston in 2010 and 2011.
 
We have about 38 million I think in cap room. And some flexibility with Patterson and Moore if more space is needed (likely cap casualties).

Albert. 10mil
Saffold 6 mil
Beadles/Anasomah 4 mil

Draft picks need about 5-6 mil lets call it 6 mil

Still need DT and safety before upgrading any other spots like RB,te,ILB ect.

Say one of the following paired with odrick...Starks/solia/Lindell Joseph/Henry Melton 6 or 7mill lets say 7 mil

That leaves about 5 million to sign a safety like Clemons or delmas which is no problem.

I know the way they structure the deals can free up or use up more space but I'm just using contract approx averages to speculate.

Do you think my dollars are fair for where those FA's will sign for, and would u like this offseason? I like that we would still have extra space for cap money by releasing or restructuring Patterson and Moore and those dollars could become useful if we did have a chance to upgrade a TE,RB or ILB (wheeler)
 
Starks & Clemons played well for us. We should be in the habit of giving contracts to players who perform for our franchise. Clabo was a TOP 10 rated RT when he came back in 2nd half of year. Due to very poor 1st half we could sign him for cheap. Benton knows Smith and Saffold on a 1year contract would be ideal.
 
I hate the idea of Martin at 19. There will be premiere players on the board, and Martin is a good OG prospect, but he's not a special talent. Talking interior O-line, you don't draft them in the 1st unless you're getting a Mike Pouncey or Jonathan Cooper - especially in a draft this loaded. I think Dolphins fans are so used to Ireland missing on any O-line prospect outside the 1st RD that they forget quality OG's shouldn't be difficult to find in the 2nd and 3rd RD's.

Logical point of view and to an extent I agree, the only reason I suggested it here was because we could have the entire oline complete by pick 19... Now on the other hand if ebron were still there I would jump on that... Also Possibly Pryor or nix3 outside of those guys at 19 who would you pick up that projects that range from a talent position to replace a current starter? Just curious your idea of who you would grab there.... Ps I think u are right though about the not seeing oline picks outside of early in the draft have had a negative effect since its still the glaring need lol
 
Zach Martin will only be available at #19 due to poor measurables and the fact that the top of draft will be loaded with elite OT prospects. I like him and believe he can be an OT and if not a probowl OG. We took Pouncey couple of years ago and if he can do same ill be very much happy. Also he was the only O'lineman to handle my favourite player of draft Aaron Donald
 
Too much cap used there.. I'd prefer a more realistic approach like; Saffold - Martin - Pouncey - Asamoah - Moses

Try to get Turner or Cyril Richardson in the draft somewhere.
